Need to convert PowerCAD files (flx) to DXF or PLT files
Uh-oh. It's time to send some of my design work to a laser cutter and I just now find out that PowerCAD LT won't save to DXF!
I hope someone here has the full version of PowerCAD or some other program (Autocad?) that can read in FLX files and write them out as DXFs or PLTs. Help me out, please.
Otherwise, I'll have to pay $500 for the full version of PowerCAD.
I guess it's time to bite the bullet and purchase a CAD program.
I know about this problem in general.
I do not think it will read FLX files.... but you just have to see if it
can import an other format that PowerCad can write.
There is a small German program which is really good for this
purpose and maybe many other tasks in your CNC future
(at least it will be in mine)
Its called "Bocnc"
under "optimizer" Its free and its actually the best I've seen
This will sort out many problems you may have with files....
I think the German language does not have to be a problem as it
work nice and intuitive. Just give it a try!
Good luck on your files conversion.
Anyway If you want my opignion on CAD software just get
yourself a version of QuickCAD, A cheap spinoff of Autocad.
But much Nicer to work with. I use it for allmost three or four
years now for all my 2D drawings and its absolute worth the

Ok, there is a solution so I won't have to redraw my designs after all!
It turned out to be pretty simple. You just have to download the trial version of PowerCAD Pro. Then you have 30 days to convert your files.
The lack of full read and WRITE DXF file compatibility makes PowerCAD LT+ a poor choice for modelers, despite the fact that it is free. The website mentions DXF compatibility several times but glosses over the fact that it is read-only in the free version. A 2D only version with full DXF file compatibility could be marketed successfully at a lower price.
