I had problems with this on my first build. Thankfully, it wasn't a complete loss. From that point forward I have always extended the wires from ESC to the Motor INSTEAD of ESC to Battery. I just make little extension cables using bullet connectors. I've not had any problems on any models since.

@Wobisch
I'm glad you like my site and the videos. Good work on your build...thanks for the updates.

thanks for your advice, i was going to install the esc,s just inside the nacelles and extend the motor wires but this still leaves me a extension from the esc,s of about 9 inches to the flight pack.

Yes...extending the ESC to Battery wires is pretty unavoidable on this model. I just kept mine ASAP (As Short As Possible).

Thank you for your help, will keep them as short as poss. Been building the flanker for almost a year now and kept putting it to one side for other projects but hopefully will finish it soon.

Hi,

extending the ESC to battery wire isn't strictly forbitten, but if necessary you should place a low ESR electrolytic capacytor of around 220F...330f every 8 inches of wire length. This will help to compensate the wire inductivity and prevent the input capacitors of the ESC from damage.
At the first picture you can see wire length in my 120% SU and the second one shows the capacitor where wire passes the bulkhead.

Always safest to extend esc to motor wires, NOT the battery wires... This is even recommended by ESC manufactures.... W

Finally finished (My last post on this thread was #2184!) after a good solid year of procrastination. Thank Christ! 940g AUW After glassing and painting so I'm pretty happy. I won't be doing another glass over layered foam for a while I think. Way too much f***in around for my liking. Maiden will have to wait till the new batteries arrive as the one I have that'll do the job doesn't weigh enough in the nose.

GREAT looking model, JMSR! Wow, it sure is smoooooth with the fiberglassing. And 33 oz is a pretty low weight for a glassed model. Good luck on the maiden!
