While doing some prep work for installing the new E-flite electric servoless retracts into my F-35, I made a nice discovery. Ming's F-35 fixed landing gear (which I also bought) with the spring-loaded struts is a perfect fit for the E-flite gear wires...they slip right on, snug as a bug (both gear sets use the same diameter wire). So I can have the cool-looking, functional shock-absorbing struts, AND electric retracts!

Instructions?
Ming,
If I buy your electric retracts for both my Dreamliner, and my F-35, are there instructions on how to install them, or am I on my own to figure it out?? Also, I am assuming that on both the F-35 and the Dreamliner, I need to carve foam out so the wheels have a place to sit... D |

MING does the retracts come with wheels ?

PM one six right, I sold him the only canopy I ever made that didn't have any significant blemishes, along with the scale fuse bumps. I don't think he ever used them so see if he'll sell them to you.

How many watts does this thing need to fly decent? My setup is max 500watts on 3s and im afraid that aint gonna cut it. I run 500watts through another jet with a 70mm fan and it flys well but its a bit lighter and much smaller profile. This bird just looks draggy, hopefully im wrong.

Hi everyone,
Building my Sapac F-16 at the moment. Thinking about starting on my F-35 next. Would a MB-1 on 4S with about 1000W make this go 90-100mph? Have read earlier in this thread, a JS1400 powered F-35 only managed a 90+ top speed. Must be the drag of the huge airframe.... Nd4spd |

Fooyukvoon, On 5S that setup might break 100mph. On 4S I would say 80-90mph tops. It is a draggy airframe BUT honestly I think a 70mm unit is a bit small vs the size of it. A 75mm or 90mm is more appropriate. I am working on gettting my power system set as my previous choice is not viable.

Hi Jason,
I guess 80-90 is acceptable for such a big frame. I am planning on moving the Sapac MB-1 70mm from my Euro to this for the time being. (Will go back to the Euro later ) 90mm? Looking at the inlet ducting and the airflow channels, there's gonna be a lot of sanding/cutting/removal of foam to fit a 90mm (I do have a few FlyFly rotor housing with no airframe to go to.. I guess just adding a Wemo Midi Rotor should make it smooth enough.) Will be watching your build closely. Picts and vids pls. Nd4spd |

Fooyukvoon, Mine is already built but pics are still hidden as she is in progress to her final colors .
As for fitting a 90mm unit take a look in the speed contest thread. As Tailslide 5_0 did just that and his did well over 100mph. If memory serves around 150mph . I will be sure to post the results of her flights in here as she has been a long time in coming. Jason P.S. Mine sports a Wemo 609 75mm fan . |

well, I am going balls out, 90mm fan on 10s
IT should be interesting!! THe last one I had caught on fire when the esc got over amped and caught on fire, lets see what happens this time around

Post pictures as you build it. Need to see how you hog out the foam and do the intakes. I did notice there are open pockets near the duct where the fan is, I was thinking of adding some foam to the back side in case the foam get too thin when sanding. I didn't want the duct to collapse there as the air inters the fan. You'll see when fuse is split open.

what happens if you leave the factory ducts??
will it not work?? do they need to be enlarged?? DID tailslide show what he did to get the 90mm in there?

I am going to cancel the order, seems like too much
work.

Aw common Sherlock, a bit of sand paper wrapped around a 3" PVC coupling will work perfectly. I believe someone said the front intake ducts would support a 90mm, but the center section needs opened some for the 90mm diameter. The other option is a Fly Fly 90mm Mirage

Yea I like that fly fly mirage, my guy got one at the field
VERY VERY stable, very easy to launch, but he is only on 6s dont have much power. Lets see if anything goes on sale tomorrow. Robert gave me a good deal on this jet. $115 shipped with a 90mm het fan because of the other accident I had. I am hoping he did not send it out

I will maiden it tomorrow (without paintfinish) because I don't know if he will fly with the retracts and AUW of 1300gram on 4S.... best regards yves |
