Presidents Day weekend. I came down to the lake with a faint hope of catching some wind. The forecast was 5-15 but we were treated to a nice 25-35. The back went off and on all day from butter smooth to rough and ragged. Gyros made the impossible possible at times but never made the pilot look or feel disconnected from the plane or conditions. Alan, Bruce, and Mark were there with John B. joining us later. Radars were left in the cars most of the day. D80 speeds were from below 100 in practically impossible air to 250+. My heavy Bee peaked about 140 (still not happy with the setup) sunbirds were as high as 180. Bruce's beater JW went 160-170.
Good times.

More good wind today. 20 to 25 with 35 mile-per-hour gusts! And I have the hill to myself :-) Not butter smooth but more smooth than yesterday.

Hey Stu, Andrew here... Thinking about you over there and wishing I was there too! But I can live on the memories of the fun we had last April anyway!

Bruce was raving to me about how he and Alan love DSing their Sunbirds.

Yeah they do. I had heard they can be difficult to put together due to suspect build quality but they had no bad words to say about them. I'm going to look into one. We're going to miss you this year.

All right, Tim's coming! Dont worry, I won't ask you to stop for a Tommies Burger on the way. I'm good for another couple of years.
Yes, It is coming. Rain clouds over Cook Peak, winds are kicking up, a very acceptable 42 degrees. We're shooting for 11:30.
