Thunderstruck EDF50 - smaller
Making a smaller copy wouldn't be much of a challenge, but running a smaller EDF could be. You would want the thrust per once, or gram to be equal, as in 1:1, or better. I am sure you see the outline and if you folded a sheet of poster board in half, cut out half the outline, you would have what you want after unfolding. It is an old trick, but still the best way to get matching halves of any shape desired. Then it comes down to finished and ready to fly weight vs wing loading. Hope this gives you a few ideas.

I should however still have a copy of tile-print laying around, and could send a tiled PDF your way @17" WS if you like. Just send me a PM, and we can coordinate. gpw - lemme know if you want/need foam. I've gone through the shed, behind the book shelves, and actually made it into the loft last night to put away some Christmas stuffs. The amount of foam (green, new blue, old blue!!!, depron, epp) that I have laying around is obscene. Don't get me started on the 2 boxes of motors, servos, and ESCs that I found too (any requests? I can bring by some motors if you've got a plane without a powerplant). My hurdles right now are batteries (lipos & transmitter), and then time... Whatcha doing tomorrow? I think I'm off of work... Oh yeah, also lemme know if you need any bamboo... Still have a few floormats on a shelf that we can tear apart. Hey Box... missed me? |

Got bored and wanted something simple and cheap to build. Saw the thunderstruck and liked the layout of it. Looked over in my corner and said to myself mmmm... that piece of cardboard would make a good large ts so began my 36" ts build. Put on a foam ( that way it could still be considered a foamy ) kfm2 piece, fiberglass umbrella rod and wood skewers throughout for support. Turnigy 2830/11 1000 motor 9" prop and 2200 2s bat. Been too wet here for the maiden this past two weeks, cardboard and water don't mix too well. that's one downside to being cheap. Well, now I have an excuse to paint it until it drys up a little outside.

Tim, we always use the old Chuck Felton mixture for waterproofing cardboard (and many other things too) ... 75% Mineral Spirits, 25% cheap polyurethane varnish ... works super ...
Google Chuck Felton if you want to learn more ... |

Thanks Glen, forgot all about that. Knew there was something, but too lazy to look it up. Also more of an excuse to build more planes.

Great Job Timbo. Cardboard Hey, good stuff glad your enjoying it. Without GPW , Timbo , the hobby would be a hell of a lot poorer. His hints, tips designs are second to none. Even though I fly copters at the moment I aways look in and the Old Boy is always sharing his wealth of knowledge. A true Gentlemen and Hobbyist.

I will most defently agree to that And also, many others on this forum have been very helpful to others. When I first took up this hobby about 2-3 years ago, I went to my LHS and was treated badly because I was too new to know what I was doing. Then I found this forum and with the help of all the kind and courteous folks here I continued to enjoy this hobby instead of giving it up. So thanks to everyone that has helped me, even the ones that don't know it, because I have read much of the feedback here and have used that knowledge to better my abilities.

So that was You huh Tim ??? Really It did look like that .... might have to Modify Box's design ... Wouldn't take much ...
Also it was mentioned that this was a basic design used (borrowed) for our Stealth planes ... The resemblance is remarkable ... Once again Aircraft imitates Aliens ... |
