Su-37 Park Jet Thrust Vectoring Demo

Here's a quick demonstration of the 3-axis thrust vectoring system on my new Su-37 park jet. It provides pitch, roll, and yaw using twin gimballing motors and differential throttle. Haven't flown it yet, but it's ready to go as soon as the weather cooperates!

Extreme,
The design and setup are all from scratch, using Littlescreamers Park Jet Special motors (available at Hobby Lobby). The motors are driven by two Hitec HS-85MG servos.

All I can say (again!) is WOW Steve! How can one person continue to take "amazement" to the next level again and again?! That looks SO incredible! And I was just telling one of my flying buddies today about your F22 video and that he HAS to see it and how amazing it is...and you set the stage today to perhaps easily eclipse the coolness of it with the SU37 video soon to come!

Thanks, Jon! Yeah, funny thing is now I look at my still-new F/A-22 park jet and think B-O-R-I-N-G, it's only got ONE-axis thrust vectoring. Once you've seen a 3-axis system work, everything else seems low-tech...

Check out my F/A-22 Raptor thread over in the pusher jets forum. The Su-37 uses the exact same mechanism, just two of them. I've posted detailed plans and a construction guide in the Raptor thread, so you're welcome to borrow the design principles for your flying wing.

WOW, it's just incredible! How many rolls/second did I hear, 20?

Now, how can a normal human being understand how to setup all those mixes, or are the pitch and roll slaved to the surfaces??

Anyway, you're the best Steve, this one is amazing!

RCP - Thanks!

Frojd - Yes, the thrust vectoring is completely slaved to the surfaces, so it won't require any special piloting technique--just fly as usual and enjoy the incredible manuervability of thrust vectoring! To make this work, it took all 7 channels of my Berg 7P receiver and all 7 available custom mixes in my Futaba 9C transmitter. So programming it wasn't easy. But flying it should be!
