Depron Cessna 172 Skyhawk "trainer"

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum, but i wanted to share my new build. A Cessna 172 Skyhawk 34". A good trainer model made from 6 and 3 mm depron. Plans will follow shortly. But first a sneak preview.

Time for another motto!
I'm interested how this one will work out. Are you making a full fuse?

Jelle
BTW: put a wetsone on your table to sharpen your depron-cutting knife regularly. You won't get tears if you use a very sharp knnife.

Hey JelleB,

Thanks for the tip, i designed it to be a scale / semi-scale model. It will get a full fuse. I use a laminate design. The fuse consists of 13 laminate pieces. To give form to the fuse i designed molds for sanding. Thats why it looks roughcutted as well. It's about 3 mm thicker than scale.

I've got to finish the build first before i can finish the plans. I'll post my progress.

Oi, those cuts are making -me- hurt! Poor Depron!
Nice outline, though :-)

I can see what you are trying to create, but are you sure that the method you chose is the best one. Looking at the fuse sections it looks mostly sqare with rounded corners, only the cowling is a complex curve. http://richard.ferriere.free.fr/3vues/cessna182_3v.jpg (ok that is a 182, not a 172)

i don't know if the method i'm using is the best one, thats something i have to find out for this model. I made other models using this method en they where great. I alwas start with a square shape and then round it of by sanding with help from a mold. This method i'm using, i'm using it only for the fuse.

SpleenRippa : I don't mind spoiling some depron in the proces because i get it cheap

Hey Guys here's an update,

I now have 9 pieces laminated and it's starting to look more a plane then slices of depron.

And a comparison to my other build the Shumate F/A 18

Here are the first plans for the model. This is still a rough design so if you have tips let me know...

The first is the centrepiece the main former. Print out and cut and tape together.

The print outs are A4 format.
