If you want to get rid of the road rash, Just tape a disposable cutting board to the nose cut to fit. You can pick them up at wal mart in packs of 3.

Picture is not that clear but you get the Idea.

Btw nice looking wings you got there.

that was not road rash, that was power dive at, at least 130, onto a city street, nose first. a 3s 4000mah lipo ripped right out the bottem of the plane. o... and this was a glassed wing

Got me beat! I was never able to push a pack THROUGH the coroplast.

That would be a keeper, at least for a while... so the other wing jockies could view it first hand to back you up on the tale! Other than the hole it looks surprisingly intact. (but I know the innards are close to jellied.)

I will make sure Dave sees that one!

ya... it ripped throught 2 layers of henerys and a layer of polyester. on top of that it was all held down with pu. the wing was intact. you motor mount and the rest had no damage. the carbon spars were crushed and i stripped the gears on a hs-81mg. as it was a glassed wing, i could not rebuild it. when i went to take the glass off it ripper out large chunks of epp. i keep it around on my wall of shame. that thing was fast.

the ridge runner is a screen door "grumman5277" build with a rcworks motor mount. i can't tell how fast it is, i've been flying the 25" in the pic and it fast for its size. i know the 48" is way faster but that small wing look like a screamer. there's a lot of lift on that 48" airfoil i think i need to add a little neg on the thrust angle. handles good turn on a dime wot and glide just as well.

Howard:

What was the motor that got the sickle to 130? How fast do you think it will go flat and level? How fast do you think a Mega 16/15/3 would move it?

BTW very nice builds.

Thanks,
Steve

it was a mega 3t with a phoenix 45 esc, and a max amp 4000mah 3s lipo 12c. it ran a 5X5 apc. i don't know what it would do flat out, but it was real fast. IMO a large lipo is a must. there's less vlotage drop.
the 130 was a guess and the wing was in a wot prower dive, i lost sight of it and then a thud sound.
