Haven't tried it yet, but landscaping fabric might make a decent portable landing strip. Comes in 6 foot wide rolls of up to 250 feet lenghts.

It would fit in the trunk or back seat. you may have to scoot your driver seat all the way up but then where would the planes and radio equipment go? Personally I usually take along 4 planes a Igloo cooler on wheels that I put all my equipment in. And then where would your freinds set?

Thats why I'm sticking with the Tarp. It's nice and light and easy to work with even on windy days

Hahahaha...I love that. I just have images of all the soccer/football/rugby players at the fields I fly trying to figure out why there are all these long retangular patches of dead grass while I look on quietly smiling to myself.

Cheers Mike

Then there is the fact, YOU could offer to CUT the grass field for free, sometimes.

"Mower blade dropped accidently for that run. Sorry."

Thats a nice idea. I fly in an area with lots of thick grass, and I cant buy nice planes cuz a landing would rip them apart. Ill think about that.

Your size of runway depends on how big the planes are.

Most RC runways are 50ft x 200-300ft (15-20m x 75-100m).

For smaller parkflier types you can go as small as 5mx50m.

If you talk them out of the whole conveyor, you could have a zero launch length runway.
