I am pretty sure it is a Luna. They have called it the Lanyu 3B. The heading on the site says SF Slope Racer but that is another model.

We have one Luna in Australia that I know of and the owner is pretty sure it is the same plane. The only thing I was not sure of is the flap rod fairings which I thought were on the Luna, but this model does not have them. everything else looks the same.

What do they sell for in the UK? Being an asian made plane normally the cost is lower compared to European models.

Can't get the Luna in the UK.
Lanyu is a reference to the Lanyu Model Company in China.

I just picked up a Lanyu Slope racer and it is a very different model indeed!

Yes I have one but mine is coloured and with Slope 'Trik' written on the wing. I wondered if Lanyu models called it something else ontheir own website but it is all in Chinese!

I meant that the Slope Racer was a very different model to the Luna. (Which on that website is called the Lanyu F3B)

It appears that the wing surfaces are different. Mine has a larger flappage.

How many have you actually seen Phil?

There were 4 Luna's in the first shipment to the UK. Two had paint jobs like mine and two had paintjobs like Sams.
They are the same plane with after moulding cuts made for ailerons and flaps. Somebody just put them in a different place thats all. On my Luna the sub spar is way infront of the flap gap seal and it could easily have had a cut made much further forwards resulting in one that looks like Sams.
Don;t forget we're only talking about a model that cost around £200 retail!
There is not going to be a fancy mould that pulls a model out with flappy bits moving and all hinged on the same line......
The fuselage front is a direct copy of the Vladimirs models Organic. heaven forbid the Chienese model factories might actually come up with a totally original design!

just going by the various pics, ie yours, luna vs the hobbylobby one makis. not seen any rainbow tips on other sites with the name Luna, ugly orange one yes...

bet you've taken some grief since your review. find the perfect entry level mouldie, give it a glowing report, and over night it becomes unobtanium.
stick to Phase 6's

Dorlings QEFI review of the Luna has a mix of pics from both his model and mine. Two different colour schemes from the same distributor on the same model.

It's only paint.....

Strikes me that Lanyu models are making them all.

I haven't had any grief, but I am trying to persuade South Coast Sailplanes that they are missing a trick by not coughing up a Ruby for review. This model has an almost identical spec to the Luna but is made in the Ukraine and is available....

Only seen those in pink though....

It looks quite similar to the so called ‘Slope trick’ also from chinese production.

More an acrobatic sloper because ther isn't much speed to call it a Racer
The few ones I saw wheren’t rigid either. 2 out of 4 where RIP after their first landings.

A look inside a wing convinced me about the build quality.

But hey, they (are?) cheap

Cheers

Thomas
