GPS operational...

I now have the GPS connected.

It sends GGA, RMC and VTG every second and GSA and GSV every 5 seconds. The GPS comes with a program that allows you to change the GPS settings and configure what messages to send and how often. I did not try that as the default settings are just fine.

In contradiction to what is mentioned in some specifications, I could not find any TTL level signal; the TX swings between -5V and 5V. As I suppose it will be very difficult to get the DS275 for which there is place on the PCB, I soldered a transistor on the extension PCB that converts RS232 levels to TTL, just for reception.

I knew that the SIRFIII receivers are sensible, but, being used to a SIRFII, I am very impressed. Just being in the vicinity of a window is enough to get a fix, and fast !!!

I now take the first GPS data as reference for the pilot, and 0 for altitude. It is clear that I will have to refine that. There seems to be a lot of jitter on the first data.
