Night shot

I also hooked up lights inside. This is the Captain's Quarters at night.

Nice to get to see the images...
The window silouettes are a nice touch.

You definitely have your work cut out for you if you want to make the two forward masts double or triple square sails. There will be some extra platform and rigging work.

Not sure how or if you can make yahoo groups public. There must be some settings in there somewhere.

Thanks

Thanks! I'm going to keep trying with the masts, but like you said, it isn't as easy as I thought it would be!

Takin' 'er out

Tomorrow I'm going to take her to the "pond" for the first time and see how she does!

Maiden voyage

Well, she did fine. With the running lights, I was able to keep her out late, too!

What kind of running lights did you put on her? What is the appropriate format for the running lights on a Pirate ship?

See post up above about lights in the captains quarters. I think that is what he is referring to.

Running lights

Maybe I shouldn't have used the term "running lights". Kmot is right. I put lights in the Captain's Quarters. I am now trying to hollow out the lamps on the rear of the ship and put small lights in there, too.

The shadows in the windows that you see are the crew figures that came with the King's Ransom. I glued them close to the window and then placed the lights behind them.

So far the biggest problem I encountered in building her was getting the black dye I used on the sails out of the washing machine! Needless to say, I didn't score points with my wife on that one!

I didn't realize you added that entire window addition to the stern of the ship.
The amount of work you have done is much clearer now that I see the "King's Ransom" in its original state, and under the process of modification.

I knew that Mirich added the rear quarter windows. But back to my original question, I want to hang some lanterns from the ship in an appropriate pattern. I'm going to turn some lanterns from clear stock and paint them. So I'm guessing that I need a green lantern on the starboard side, A red lantern on the port side, One lantern from the crow's nest and a lantern from the stern.

Am I right so far?

Hah! Do you think pirates obeyed the laws of navigation? Shoot, they probably placed lamps in a position that would fool their prey into thinking they were going instead of coming.
