More "KX"s than a pastry shop! :)

Hi,

Just to clarify some things for people here buying cameras for Aerial Video:

Here is the list of "KX" cameras and their correct model names, tvl and lux rating:

"KX 121" = Panasonic® cx-121 , 330 tvl 5 lux, 5 VDC

"KX 131" = KT&C® KPC-S226CB , 380 tvl 0.5 lux 1/4" SONY® CCD, 12VDC

"KX 132" = ***** , 420 tvl 0.03 lux 1/3" SONY® super-HAD® CCD, 5VDC

"KX 141" = model number RHPC-2005 can be found at www.oemcameras.com 5VDC

"KX 151" = KT&C® KPC-S700CHB , 480 tvl 1 lux 1/3" SONY® CCD, 12 VDC

"KX 161" = Panasonic® cx-161 , 330 tvl 5 lux, 5VDC

"KX 171" = Panasonic® cx-171 , 480 tvl 1 lux, 5VDC

"KX 171 proper" = 480 tvl 0.2 lux, 1/3" SONY® super-HAD® CCD, 12VDC

Cameras tested and found most appropriate for Aerial Video:

KT&C® KPC-650CHQ1
Users report excellent color, sharp image, very good light sensitivity

KT&C® ACE-EX110CH
The board version of the above camera

KT&C® KPC-S700CHB
Preliminary trials report sharp picture and good color rendering

KT&C® KPC-S226CB/C
FPV'ers report good color and contrast

KT&C® KPC-VSN500NH KX 777 / SN 777

That's a great list!

Any chance you could add the required voltage for each?

I have 3 Sony KPC 650's and the picture quality is the best I have ever seen out of any of these cameras. Its much more than just lines, I have tried a smaller camera with the same number of lines of resolution as my KPC-650 and the picture looked horrible

Great information on the KX *** series cameras, but not all of them have the resolution Listed. For example how does the KX-151 compare to the KX-181 ? I would like to find a small camera with good quality. The KPC-650's are great, but they are kind of big and draw quite a bit of power, making them not so great for small planes.

Docphi:

See detailed description of KX-181 above

JettPilot:

The KX-151 has a 1/3" sensor which allows more light to hit the CCD resulting in better picture. Plus the good reputation KT&C® have in the board camera business.
Take a look at the KT&C® ACE-EX110CH ... it is the board version of the KPC-650CH.

Price ALERT for the "kx151": these guys have the lowest price on the market and ship super fast (I got mine in 2 days ):
(I am not affiliated with them but will do business with them anyday; good proffesional attitude and the extra "human" touch is what got me):

What camera are you getting?

I am going to do a review on the:

KT&C KPC-S226CB
KT&C KPC-650CH
KT&C KPC-S700CHB
RHPC-2005
and the "FutureHobbies" "KX-181"

As soon as I get some free time (and greens ).

i have a weakness for complicated things so i ordered a kpc-hd38czcm and i ended up with a kpc-hd38czvai for some reason.it's too much trouble for me to send it back(i drive a semi tanker over the road,i'm always away from home) and have it replaced with the one i ordered so i'll keep it.both models are way too big for the little t-rex that i'm presently using with a kx 141 i believe(from range video).i might be able to use the new one on a hirobo lepton.or use it as a web cam if nothing else.
