Thanks, I'm sure I'll need some GOOD luck. My Dad flew a 29 many missions over Japan, out of Tinian. We have many photos of his plane, and some pretty spectacular mission pics. I would love to see the look on his face, if we can get one off the ground.

Palmer Plans service and probably Nick Ziroli. I have seen some rather HUGE B-29's on the "net".

Lincoln, A lot of the large B-29's are built from Don Smith plans. A search on Google will find info for you. They are approx 13ft span. I have one partially framed up but it is on terminal hold it seems. It is an expensive project and you would want experience in multi-engine ( non- elec ) r/c.
This fuse and wing center section is about 8 ft...

B-29 Parts


Hi All,

FYI... I'm currently sold out of the B-29 vacuum formed parts. If there is interest, I'm willing to order another batch and distribute them. Please PM me if you are interested in a set, and I'll let you know when they are available. There seems to be some interest in just noses, so I may order a few extras.

Well finally got started on the B-29 last night. Cut out all the wood.
Still thinking about the landign gear...
I do want to stay away from retracts. I've found them more trouble than they are worth.
But still unsure of how to mount the fixed gear. Thinking of just a torque rod set for the mains...1/8"
Still wondering about the nose gear set up. Any close up pics of landing gear on this one?

Hi All,

I'll be ordering another batch of parts as soon as I can get in touch with my supplier. So stay tuned. Right now I have tentative orders for 3 sets and a nose. I'll try to order a few extra noses for those hard landings.

As far as close ups of the L.G., try the Wright Patterson Museum web site. Bockscar is on display there and there are some pictures on line. The front L.G. comes out of the nose section, so maybe you could tie it into the front fuse formers. The mains are under the inboard nacelles, so they could be tied into the motor mounts.

Another ? How do you join the nacells? I was thinking of some thin fiberglass with some finishing resin.

Also how do you attach the nacells? I was thinking of finishing them with the alum tape, and just taping to the wing with the stuff.

I plan on adding gear, and will post some pics of the set up I'm going with when I get that far.

Here is a shot of the fuse being joined.
