Shanghai has several small shops scattered around the city with each typically geared to a specific hobby: cars, helos, boats, etc.. Unfortunately, the largest & newest, Paradise RC Pro Shop on YanAnXi Lu, closed in October. Best bet for what you'd be interested would be to visit the shop located on Nanjing Zhong Rd several blocks west of the JC Mandarin near Peoples Square. Its located on the south side of Nanjing.

Here are a few forums where you can obtain more information or get to meet some of us here in the city. We used to have a nice following here & but it pretty much has fallen by the wayside.

Regarding Nanjing, I don't know of any decent stores in the area. I have a friend who lives there & will ask if he happens to know if they exist .

Hanghzou has several decent shops if you happen to visit there.

And don't forget, there's always Hong Kong which is where I still most of my shopping when its not done offshore.

I'm into RC scale ships & subs, but know a few fliers in the area so feel free to contact me if you need any added assistance.

HEY,BUDDY:
u fly heli or airplane? I have great interests on building rc scale models,Certainly,Shanghai has 4-5 RC SHOPs that still running now,but the shop u mentioned(the one near people square )is not a good choice, coz its too higher price.

have u been to the HongKong waigo(shanghai branch)or Dualsky hobby shop?then,Hongfei RC HELI SHOP?

they r the better choices for saving your money and u can purchase more latest rc equipments there.
enjoy your RC AVIATION LIFE in shanghai

Shanghai RC

Dan,

I know what you mean - the prices at that shop as high to say the least. I either do most of my shopping in HKG or bring back from the States while on business.

I don't do any flying myself but focus on model boats, mostly scale ships & subs. Have known a few around here into helos, planes & gliders, but the need to travel to either Pudong or far west to the F1 track made flying such a hassle.

I see the RCinCHINA forum site is gone, replaced by a commerical site who assumed the domain, & RCinPRC has essentially ceased to exist as any real gathering place for RC enthusiasts. We had a good following several years ago but it now it appears everyone has gone their own way.

Feel free to send me a PM if you want to get together.

Hey Illi

I am new to Beijing, transferred here 4 months ago. Desperate to find a few good RC stores (need fuel), and a club from which I could fly my Extra 300. I live in Shunyi - any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated !

Many thanks

Beijing

Andre,

See for the Beijing -thread for hints about flying places and shops.

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=529323

Also you can PM me or Albert for more information.

Northeast of Shunyi is Miyun where is one place to fly, I'll try to find you a link to shop who runs the flying activities there. I's bit far for us living close to downtown, but you are alerady more than halfway there...

Here is a small shop in Shanghai http://www.shanghaihobby.com/main.htm

You can get someone to translate the address or call the store. It is small but prices are as good as you will find. Don't forget that almost anything imported from outside China will be more expensive here but prices on Chinese made items are very good.
