Pet Peeve

I love the spelling derivations I see in some of the messages.

Be careful of criticizing others, lest they seek out your spelling errors.

"Finished all the building with the exception of the landing grear fairings and wheel spats."

What is a landing grear?

I try and run everything I post through MS spell-check. It doesn't catch everything but it ALWAYS catches something.

Edited because I should know better, but rarely act upon it.

There's a huge difference between an apparently honest typo (grear for gear, as the "r" is next to the "e" and could easily be typo'd) and the laziness of not caring how words are spelled. It's the latter that I believe Pat is nitpicking and for what it's worth, I wholeheartedly agree. Is my spelling perfect? No! But I do make an honest effort to spell things correctly. I fear the day we're all typing with things like "im", "fliing", "edicate", and "walla" in our everyday online vocabulary.

Who is criticizing?

I try to get my spelling correct ... but sometimes mistakes slip through. It is usually fairly obvious between a poster making a silly mistake (we all do)... or one that just doesn't care what he/she writes . Now those are the ones I raise an eyebrow with, non English speakers being the exception of course...

[edited] I see Martin beat me to the punch . Ditto his response .
