I dont know if this belongs in this forum Moderators. Feel free to move if it doesn't.

Just moved to the Kansas City area and was wondering if anyone can help. Looking for a good hobby shop that can supply me in my electric planes and heli's.

I know KC has a ton of shops but i dont know who the best ones are.

Charlies RC on Blue Ridge Blvd is a good old time kind of hobby shop with helpful knowlable folks running the place. Fairly good selection of electric stuff.

Hobby Haven at 105th and Metcalf has an electric section and the basic electric stuff.

Hobbytown also on Metcalf at 92nd. Not so great. Bigger than the others but not a lot of the kind of things I want.

Northland Hobbies used to be in Claycomo but moved to North Brighton and very reduced hours when they are open. Don't know how to tell you how to get there. Good folks if you can find them and when they are open.

That Hobby Haven that gmlrjet listed usually has a pretty good selection, but the guys there don't seem to be the friendliest if you ask me. I've bought a bunch of stuff from them, and not once have I ever been greated at the door or asked if I need assitance getting something. (needless to say, I've spent my last dollar there).

The Hobbytown has a lot of the basic stuff. Last time I was in there they mostly only had helis and a few misc. beginner style planes.

There is a bunch of shop in the KC area, but if I remember, several of them are car only shops. I've not been hobby shopping in KC in a while, so let us know what you find that's good.

I visit the one at 105th and Metcalf when I get back to KC--good shop.

Where is the one on Blue Ridge --is it near Grandview or Raytown?

Charlie's RC is in/near Raytown, Spent some of my year end bonus there today! It's an "Aircraft Only" shop. No car stuff, no trains, and especially no silly games or D&D

Thanks for the info on Charlies RC--will look it up on our next trip.to KC.

I noted that some of your earlier events were at old Richards-Gebauer AFB--my dad was a wing commander there for the 442nd Troop Carrier Wing in the 50-60s.

It's been a long time since we flew at the old hanger. We are in a MUCH better place now.

Has anyone tried the Tiger Shark 25003 available on Ebay for $14.00 with shipping? It is a twin engine foam R/C with 34" span. Sure looks like a buy.

I know this thread is old now but i had to tell you all that i went to Charlies on Saturday and i love that shop.

The store was to close at 1:00 pm and i got there at 1:10 (running really late) and Jim still let me in and we ended up talking for a half hour or so. Great guy.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction................
