If another signal is detected do not power-up until source of signal is determined and signal is secured. Operating on same signal can cause catastrophic loss of aircraft.
4. Correct CG- Confirm
5. Airframe- Check for general appearance, security, alignment.
1. Control Tx- ON
2. Aileron and Elevator Trim- 0
Note:Rate gyros will not initialize if trims are not set to zero
3. Canopy- Open
4. Flight Battery- Connect
5. Video Battery- Connect (as required)
6. Altimeter-Reset to Zero (as required)
7. Canopy- Secure
8. Range Check- Complete, as required
9. Ensure that both gyros are properly initialized, armed and providing the correct flight control inputs
An un-initalized gyro will result in loss of control in that axis and subsequent loss of the aircraft and possible bodily injury
10. Flight Controls- Check for correct response and freedom of movement
Keep clear of the prop arc.
11. Trim- as required
12. Video Feed- Confirm
13. OSD GPS initializing- Check (as required)
15. Pan function- Check
16. Lights- As required
17. DVR- ON, Rec
18. OSD ON- Check
19. Home Set- Check
WarningDo not launch in OSD Menu Mode.

2. Launch Area- Confirm Clear
3. Controls- Sweep, check for correct control surface response.
4. Video Goggles- Don
5. Controls- Neutral
6. Trim- Set, as required
7. Dual Rate- Set, as required
8. Power-as required
9. Airplane- Launch in a nose level attitude, into the wind
1. Flight Controls- Check
2. Return to Home- Check as required
1. Wind- Check direction
2. Landing Site- Confirm clear
3. Power- Off, on Final into the wind
4. Flight Controls- Maintain a nose level attitude
5. Flare- Perform, as required around 2 feet AGL
6. Video Goggles- stow, after aircraft comes to a complete halt
1. Airplane- Check for general appearance, security, alignment and missing parts
2. FOD- Check
3. Correct CG- Confirm
4. DVR-as required
5. Lights- as required
6. Head Tracking Clip- Disconnect, as required.
1. Ground Station- OFF
2. DVR- OFF
3. Camera Cover- Install
4. Canopy- Open
5. Flight Battery- Disconnect
6. Canopy- Secure to Cockpit
7. Control Tx- OFF
8. Wings/Center Spar- Remove and Stow
9. Airplane and Ground Station- Stow

7. Control Tx- Raise to eye level. Ensure antenna is vertical
If Control is regained:
8. Turn and close control Tx
9. Range where Tx signal was lost- Note. Do not exceed.
10. Continue Flight
If control remains lost:
11. Video Goggles- Stow
12. Post-crash Procedures- Execute
Loss of Video Signal
1. Video Goggles- Stow
2. Visual Contact- Gain
3. Controls- Neutral, Throttle-Off
Note:Because of inherant stability, the airplane may stay airborne for some time.
If visual conatct is made:
4. Turn and close video Rx
If video signal returns:
5. Range where loss of video signal was lost- Note. Do not exceed
6. Continue flight
If video signal remains lost but airplane is in sight:
7. Land visually as soon as practicable
If visual contact is not made:
8. Post crash procedure-Execute
Un-commanded Motor Shutdown
2. Nose- On or slightly bellow horizon
3. Throttle- OFF
4. Throttle- ON
Repeated re-starts in low battery conditions will cause Li-Po Batteries to degrade beyond recovery.
If power is regained:
5. Land as soon as possible
If power is not regained:
6. Land immediately
Choose a clear landing site. Loss of the aircraft is preferred over impacting third party persons or property
7. Post-crash procedure- As required

Maximum altitude: 400 ft AGL
0 to 7 mph- unrestricted ops
8 to 12 mph- no tailwind take-off & landing
12 to 17 mph- no tailwind take-off & landing. fly with the wind no further aft than abeam
17 mph- Maximum
Maximum range: 1,500m
Maximum flight time per battery: 50 min (2300 mAH), 40 min (1800 mAH)
Video Tx battery life: 50 minuites
Minimum Control Tx Voltage: 9.8 Volts
1. Only launch on a freshly charged set of batteries.
2. Range check when in new field or if there has been any change in Control Radio Configuration.
3. Inspect the plane before flight for proper material condition.
4. Follow checklists.
5. Fly only with full set of lights at night.
1. Flight in IMC
2. Flight in visible moisture
3. Prolonged Negative G's
4. Night Flight w/o Lights
5. Power-off flight below 5 ft AGL w/o intent to Land
6. AOB greater than approximately 50 degrees
7. Flight in controlled airspace
8. Flight exceeding 20 minutes, if flying in an area where a safe landing cannot be assured through out the entire route of flight
9. Flight in winds exceeding 7 knots, if flying in an area where a safe landing cannot be assured through out the entire route of flight
10. Flying in a manner that an observer may perceive to be dangerous
11. Flight in an environment with known Electro Magnetic Interference
12. Flight w/ ambient temps less than 2 deg C

I follow them most of the time. When I deviate, at least I know I'm out of the "norm" and should be EXTRA vigilant.
Thanks very much for sharing these preparation & flight rules and checklists.
How do you use the checklists, in practice?
I.e., do you bring printed-out copies of these lists, on a clipboard or in a 3-ring binder, to the launch site, and actually check off each item on the piece of paper with a pencil?
Or is this list usually just kept in your mind, and you mentally check these items off?
BTW, I have kept my checklists mostly in my head... and I've sometimes regretted my lack of written checklists, especially when I rushed and forgot something, resulting in a crash.
If you have any photos or videos which would help me understand how you use the checklists... I'd appreciate it.
I commit my procedures to memory. That said, I will occasionally re-read the checklists. If I make any changes, I write it down, think it through, and if all is well, I commit to mememory...
