I am more than happy with how it flys now! Night and day difference from the stock underpowered brushed setup. I sure can't wait to fly it again. I think this is going to be one of those always take with me to the flying field type of planes.

Here's what I used:

Don's Wicked Jr. park pusher (2200kv)
6x4 prop (produced 175 watts at only 15 amps during static tests)
no name 25amp esc
Turnigy 3cell 2200mah 30c lipo.
Cut ailerons into the wings and installed a used set of servos I had from a crashed EDF jet.
Extended the elevator and rudder control surfaces with scrap depron.
Stock elevator and rudder servos.
Hobbyking R410 OrangeRX 4 channel receiver

Future plans:

Maybe flaperons if I can figure out the mixing on my DX7
I might try out an rctimer 2212-06 2200kv motor that I ordered. Not sure if there will be a difference since the kv is the same.
Fly it until the wings fall off. Rebuild and fly some more!

Yea baby she looks and sounds GREAT

Just noticed HeadsUp has the Jr Hawk back in stock.
This is identical to the Wild Hawk except for the colors.

I have a Jr Hawk and I think the yellow is easier to see.

Hey and one of my favorite hobby stores is selling it. They must have just started. Need to see if they have the ARF version as well.

HU sold them when they first took on the GWS line.
They stopped carrying them when their price increased.
I'm glad to see they have them back.

Just bought this plane for $30 off craigslist

Wonderful first plane, I had to give it some expo and it's less jumpy. Came with a spare set of wings. I painted it because it was all faded. added my rx and battery and was flying, the previous owner upgraded the motor to brushless and 40 amp esc.

Bixler from Harbor Freight (3 min 15 sec)

Wow, didn't think this thread was even going yet. Still have my Wild hawk and still fly it every weekend. I still have it 100% stock. Still flies like a dream and still gets amazing altitude and soars forever. love this plane, wish they still made it

Wow! Congrats. I still have my Wild Hawk, slightly modified with flapperons, replacement servos, and lipo, but still stock ESC and motor. Haven't flown it in quite a while, but it still is flight worthy.

Lots of other similar layout planes have filled the trainer niche, including the Hobby King Bixler.

You've resurrected this thread after just over a year!
