My new CenRacing Aqua Jet 775....

got here today.. far seems really nice but took me forever to put the decals on.. (and do a little painting!) Put a nice antenna on it also..

Going to run it stock tommorrow (700motor, 2-7.2v6c-DynaFun 3000-NiMh's in series w/the gps, (etrex-152grams) then with the modified 42mm carbon fiber prop i got, then with a light sanding of the rear 1/3 of the under water hull....then w/ 2-8.4v7c's 1900-Piranha's.....
Is that the right order?
..will post GPS results!! (if anybody is interested?)

Hell Yeah !
I Just bought the 550 Aquajet.. I too intend on doing a little Painting.. Except I intend on Painting the Hull.. I want my Aqua jet to stand out as we are going to have a Boat race soon and too many Yellow Aqua Jet's could end up badly..

yeah I may paint mine too, these decals are a PITA, they won't stay down around the edges...

made my 1st run and she only did 14.1mph all stock w/ the 2-7v6c 3000 batts (ea 352grams for a x2 of 704g/1.55lbs/24.8oz of batt wieght)

Came home, just did a light sanding of the back 1/3 of the underwater hull and put on the carbon fiber 42mm prop, then heading back to the lake w/both the 7v and 8v batts, lets she if she flies on 16v!

Since the Piranha 8.4v are only 1900ma they actually weigh less then the 3000NiMh's at 333g ea for a x2 of 666g/1.47lbs/23.5oz
or a total of 38g/1.3oz lighter..

Here's the CF prop next to the stock one, my stock one looks like I may have hit something under water on my 1st run, edge looks beat up...that may be a reason my top speed was off some..

Not sure what size the stock one was, but u can see them both there in the pic..

As the sun was going down i didn't have time to wait for the 7v 3000 cels to charge so i took the 2-8.4 Pirahana hump pack 7c's but one was brand new and on its 1st charge...and she went 17.9mph, CF props, slight sanding, @16.8v- ...
My Traxxas Blast did 18.2mph w/ a 550 and 1500/6c/7v@x2-14v ....
The 1500 cels may be alot lighter, going to get some and well'll see....
(my last 2 are in the blast at the bottom of the lake..)

A lot of the time IMO,the extra weght of higher capacity cells is offset by their ability to hold a higher voltage under load.Higher voltage-higher RPM at the prop.
My Riviera on 12 cells goes way harder on 4200s as opposed to 3000s,though a bit heavier.Just food for thought.

Well I built my AquaJet 550 with an Mtroniks RV 11 ESC.. I think I am gonna paint it as I dont want it to be confused with any other Aqua Jet..

Well i wasn't that happy w/ the stock ESC as it is large, and fairly heavy at 96g, plus it has no reverse. So even though the Proboat ESC is only rated at 10 cells and 12v I tried one of mine in it and it ran nice and cold.
with the 7v 3000 batts it only ran 17.1mph (.8 mph less then w/ the stock esc)
and with the 8v 1900's it only did 17mph so i guess the Proboat wasn't giving full voltage so I'll get a better one from Offshore Electrics soon...

But i did get some pic's!

Here is my Aqua Jet ..
Color is Tamiya PS-5 Blue and LRP Silver..

When you paint an Aqua Jet.. remember that the shell is Yellow.. So if you spray it Blue, it will turn green. So Spray it White or Silver first then Paint away

I didnt Add all the Tacky Decals that CEN give you as I wanted to Keep it simple..

nice color scheme. item for consideration. if you want a higher gloss, go over it with some superfine steel wool(lightly), then clear coat it.

Mines Only a 550.. Not a 775. So I hardly even expect mine to get up and plane..
Its More of a Social Boat then a " Lets rip the waters up" type of Boat..

Yeah i was a little surprised about the speeds also but have concluded that any speed claims that don't include the word "GPS" are pure speculation and most likely way off.

The Traxxas Blast is rumored to do 15-20mph actually does 11mph per GPS and the Aqua 775 that people "claim" does 20-25 mph actually does 14mph out of the box...the prop is not adjustable and my batts are new so it ain't that, I got almost another 4 mph out of a new prop and some sanding on the back half of the hull and next when i go to a flex coupler, a 700bb turbo water cooled motor and a high voltage water cooled ESC I should be in the 20+mpg range i hope....

had to laugh when I saw an ad for the Supervee that read 'Insane electric speed' (or something like that). 50+ mph in a similar size boat on the bleeding edge of control is insane!
