Any thoughts on the Sharpwind F3J?

I'm into flat land thermal flying and am considering the Sharpwind.
I'm wondering what people's experiences have been and how the build is.
Does it come with the needed servo extensions and connectors?
How does it fly? How does it hold up strength wise?

One of the guys in my club has one. It's on the heavy side. No ballast needed...ever.

Anyhow my friends weighted empty 1817g out of the box...

So it is not a floater but should work fine other days.

Mike,
Does your guy have issues with the elevator linkage on this thing? One of the guys in FWA has the built up version and I do not like the feel of that set up. Wish it was an all flying stab.

Hi Marc,

Our guy has not had any problems with the elevator linkage, but he does wish it was all flying. His main problem with the plane has been its' allergy to trees....know what I mean?

OK a quick translation comes here. Please bare with me if I have some grammatic errors. It happens easily when translating a swedish sentence. It easy becomes swenglish..

Del 4 =Part 4
"
First paragraph: just covers that he had some up trim . He did the mounting to quick. After ensuring that the trim were neutral he tried again.
Second paragraph: Hand throw the glider and it went straight without any trim. Time to test on a high start. With a small amount of start flap the glider went straight up the line. After a few starts and some turns in the calm air it was time to check the CG. No info were given from the manufacturer for the CG and throws. Now followed some testing with CG 98,95,90 and 85 mm from LE. The supplier did A check with the manufacturer and got the recomendation to have the CG at 81mm from LE. This should mean extensive amount of lead in the nose and too forward CG, which is not up to my taste.
Third paragraph: After testing in calm and windy conditions I ended up with CG 95 mm from LE. In calm weather the CG should actually be some mm more to the rear, but in windy conditions the choosen setting works better. And it is in windy conditions I intend to use the SW over the Graphite.

Fourth paragraph: with the hook infront of the CG the starts are a walk in the park. Thermalling in steep angels is done with ease inside the thermal. One doesn't feel the big span at all. Speed increases in thermal and the glider increases altitude quickly. In windy conditions one would like to have some more speed and the possibility to add ballast should be considered. The big flap makes landing easy. The neutral setting of the flap shouls be aligned with the aileron, don't use the fuse marking. To much snapflap and the glider have tendences to come out with nose high after a turn.
fifth Paragraph: SW is a good allround glider working good from calm to windy conditions. In heavy wind one needs ballast to penetrate good.. The starts goes straight without any sideways wobbling tendencys and with correct CG and hook position the launces are good. The kit is of highest quality and installation is quick and easy. "

thats it, enjoy reading!

I had a different Valenta Model Plane (TXL 4M) and the build quality was excellent, but it came out a little heavy. Strong plane.
