Do a search for "pink Floyd" here at RCG. Or look up Flybike he created the beast.

It's an increadably long thread. I spent a whole Sat. morning reading it and it was a great read. Very exciting to see it fly. I have the video and will try and attach it.

Pink floyd video

FIle was too big to upload. You can check out Ubike's site for plans and what not. I think it's pinkfoamplanes.com

I built his quick build combat plane and had ablast!

Stephan

P.S. I am not trying to advertise his site....just passing this along.

Thanks guys.

I found info on a 50 foot pink monster, from Wisconsin (BIG FLOYD)
I suppose this hasn't been exceeded yet.

The website says it didn't yet fly due to gearbox problems.

Couldn't a petrol engine be used ?
Or would this cause fuel proofing problems with the foam etc ??

Pink Floyd was the predecessor to Big Floyd. Same guy,Flybike on this forum Made both. I have no doubts to the airworthiness of Big Floyd but the "gearing was a belt drive setup and the belt failed. I believe the prop had too much mass for the belt. The belt needed to be much thicker or maybe a chain drive would have worked better.

It was quite an undertaking to be sure.

APC sells a 27" prop for electrics. God knows what you would put it on.
