great memory philly! I just finished the speedo thermo I got for my b/day and awaiting it's maiden..there's a thread here somewhere. I can post some more pics of the finished plane if you would like.

Hoping it will fly well.. AUW came out about 430g (~15oz).

what was your impression?
i know the postage is a bit steep ( but only when you look at it equaling the kit price, HK to UK for $20 is ok ) but i can't think of anything here less than 70 that looks the same, S2G stuff is similar.

be good to hear it's a quality bit of kit.
did you also get yours from revolution shop? i think i saw one from a UK seller recently.
someone else a while back was importing the Petro

Similiar in quality to S2G.. the RG15 wing is thin (even the 9mm thick D60's needed raised covers) so it might have a good turn of speed.

From the pics... used a AAA square nimh pack, had to open the fuse out quite a bit to fit it in.. but it does go in HS55 fits with plenty of room to spare. Used a 3mm carbon tube with a dubro clevise instead of the snake they supplied.

Got rid of the blow molded servo covers and used some raised carbon ones. The D60's are wrapped in tape and epoxied to the covers which I lightly screwed into position then taped down as well. Used frp horns simply because the holes in the ones supplied were too big for the wire. Slop free.

Hatch is pretty straightforward, neat and slides off for easy removal.

Needed quite a bit of lead in the nose as the stab is 'over-engineered'. Just poked the nose into some moist compacted sand to make a psuedo mold, and poured lead into it.

Nice little model for any spare gear laying around. My fiance thinks it's 'cute'

Yep, it's -still- sitting in the garage, making friends with the other unfinished stuff

Maidened the Speedo today.. wow, surprisingly good.

No bad habits, axial rolls, inside & outside loops a breeze with no correction needed. Slight down ele when inverted (i think it's a little noseheavy though).

Drops a wing when stalled, but speed is almost a dead stop before it does so, and is easily recovered.

Best of all, it's reasonably quick for it's light weight, and makes a decent whistle!

All up, very predictable & enjoyable plane to fly. Now..wheres that lead...

Well, after a slight mishap due to reaching for the flap switch while about 2ft off the ground (duh!) the speedo underwent a ground up rebuild.

New thinner composite wing & tail, and kevlar reinforced fuse.

And lots of sanding, compounding and polishing! I have a soft spot for small, light & fast models, I hope this one won't dissapoint.

Kind of. I bag on glass/0.8mm balsa/carbon skins, as it seems to give an overall stiffer and lighter wing compared to a heavier, composite only layup.

no unfortunately. In it's original form it's comparable to a moderately fast 60"er, just a bit smaller and lighter.

The rebuilt version.. happy happy joy joy
