Hurricane 550 is here, cheap, light and flies just awsome!

Ok, I better start with this...

I´m the one on the pic that dosen´t speak Mandarin

And...

And this...

All push-pull, alu-swash and BB.

And this too...

Open the box, add servos, go fly!

Ok, now you all seen it for the first time

Its the Hurricane 550, a new heli that it just about the best new electric heli I have seen and flown for a while. Why´s that? Beacause:

It uses 6S1P, or acctually 2 pcs 3S1P, so your TREX XL batteries works fine!
It comes ARF, with 500mm blades, painted canopy and all bearings/thrust bearings you can think of.
It comes complete with brushless motor (KV800, 1000W) and ESC 50A Gov, 6S and a BEC that works!
It will NOT break the bank!
All weight is centerd, so TP is on the boom, and shaft! Guess how this one rolls? Thats right, straight as an arrow!

And know ladies and gentlemans...The AUW is 1,95KG. Thats right, read that again to be sure My own acctualy went under this, 1.89KG with 2x3S 2250mA 20C packs, 401/S9254 servo, and S3151 on cyclic, JR 770S mini SPCM RX, stock motor/esc/bec and everything else.

It can easly take 550 blades, pinions for this is in the box.

Do I like it? H_ll Yeah! So know you wonder what the price is? Let me say, it will compete with the TREX...450!. Parts? will make you smile.

I have been very very lucky to get these helis.

Did I say that it comes with alu swash and hub as standard? And that it has a driven tail?

Christmas came very early this year...

Sorry for being so hyped, but this is what I have been waiting on for so long!
A nice designed electric heli, that has good quality without forcing me to take a second mortage

Looks cool but why don't they ever take into account battery placement when building electric helis? People like to slide batterys in......

Yes offcourse, but then the TP weight gets lower aswell. I rather go with this design, All weight is centerd, so TP is on the boom, and shaft.

Also the canopy (which is 60g painted) is very easy to remove. And it´s not flimsy or weak. I hated my Swift, beacause the canopy was a small h_ll to get on and off. Then, offcourse you can use welcro tape, instead as in the pictures ziptie's.

Actually, other than the pack placement issue, there's a lot to like about this design. I like that the motor is up high, and the push-pull linkage looks solid. It is definitely going to have a wicked roll rate.

The two-stage gearing could provide some better gearing options. Do you know what pitch it is? It looks like mod. 1.0, but it is hard to tell.

If it could be mad to fit, I would think a single 10-cell a123 pack and something like a Z30A-800 would be a great hard 3D power option for this, especially since it is so light. Might need a metal hub upgrade, though, but maybe not.

Interesting. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Oh, metal hub and swashplate is offcourse stock

One more thing, look at the installation, it is impossible to get it ugly!
All servo cables goes inside of the chassie. And the RX is far from anyting disturbing

I agree about roll rate but battery placement should be designed for a more universal fit. I just hate having to hang batterys etc... Looks like a really cool heli and the design looks nice also. Should be popular if of high quality and low cost.

If they drop the battery tray down a little bit you could put a 6S on that tray. I give it a few months before someone designs a new frame for it.

My point exactly!!! Why not design it that way in the first place?
