Thermal Spec (New DLG) flight test complete..

I tested the flight performance of the new glider i've titled the "Thermal Spec" today, and all i can say is, Outstanding! The flight weight was exactly 4.9 oz. The launches were very straight. The glider had outstanding turning and control. I think i have now converted from composite back to good old fashion balsa wood. I look forward to seeing how others feel about the performance once they try it. The wing performed well. The combination of Drela's excellent airfoils, a good planform and this unique dihedral seems to work rather well. The thermal turning was beautiful. i was able to thermal the glider very esaily. it takes almost no effort to thermal. the glider was a lot of fun to fly. i prefer it now as oppose to my more expensive composite quantum. The simplicity of rudder and elevator
helped keep it enjoyable to fly. anyway thats my review of my own glider. i don't expect any of you to take my word for it. we'll see what others have to say. i will include some more pictures of the glider later today..

Wow! Nice looking glider. I remember the post you had before when you were building/designing it. I'm glad it turned out well. Can't get over how sleek and light it looks just sitting there. Will you be selling these?

Wow! Beautiful glider!

Interesting wing pylon...it looks very thin and very tall...any advantage to this?

Beautiful! That TE scares me though...seeing as my planes seem to get damaged more when they aren't flying than when they are.

Stunning glider......has my vote for best balsa dlg yet! Looks like it is going up just sitting there!

A question for you:

What are the dimensions of the TE carbon piece, round or rectangular?

Stunning.

I like the idea of putting the servos in the pylon to reduce the wet area of the pod.

I'd like to know how high the glider will launch?

That has to be in the top 3 for beauty. I like the servo positioning in the pylon too. Is there CF imbedded in the pylon some where? How about the full specs? Have you really given it a rip yet? That trailing edge looks really flimsy. I'll bet it glides like smoke at 4.9 oz!

Wow, it looks so nice.
If you have any plan for making a kit, please put me on the waiting list.
