When I got home, I built what was in my head, and I be danged if it didn't work great straight of the board.

I remember the first time I took it to a indoor fly in and flew it. When I finally landed and turned around, every RC pilot there was standing behind me and wanted to see how it worked . Some actually thought that I was doing constant rolling circles, But I am not near that good a pilot

What really looks cool is to tape on some red and yellow streamers to the bottom of it. Kinda looks like flames spinning out the back as you fly

With a third servo the spin rate can be controlled.

It is easy

To have a rotating hull, combined with a control both must move seperately.

So you need a first part consisting of the motor, prop, a battery and a receiver. If you want this, allso a servo - controlling vanes to spin this construction faster or make it slow down (eventually stop for landing or takoff)- can be controlled by this first receiver.

the second part is a controlling mechanism ( a small plane consisting only of control surfaces) to be used as a rudder and elevator. Elevons can be used, eventually a gyro to be more stable.

This small plane "flies" inside of the rotating hill with motor and prop and is controlled by a separate receiver, but on the same transmission channel, so that a single transmitter can be used to stear the whol craft.

Simple.

But if one only wants one receiver an infrared connection between the controller part (small plane inside of the ringwin) and the motor.

Both parts are connected via an axxis. So that they can move independantly.

The small plane inside the tube wil control the construction beautifully, and the illusion of a totally rotating "ufo" will be great!

Piece of cake!

I have proposed such a construction to improve Naudin's gsf uav

Is this project still being developed for the masses? I'd love to buy a flying coke can, either kit or rtf.
