Thanks for all the documentation. As one who isn't as adventurous as you I really appreciate your pioneering work and showing us how to use these cells. I'll feel alot more confident trying them.

out/of/range couldn't have said it better. I look forward to looking for your new post and threads and when I get done marveling over your ingenuity I forget to say thank you for sharing. You and several other RCGroups members have made my transition into electric modeling so much easier then by trial and error. So Thanks, and keep up the great threads.

Yeah - what they said.

It's long, detailed posts like that, that teach me as I battle to comprehend and absorb all this information. I still haven't flown my (insert expletive here) plane, but at least now I'm the proud owner of 3 home-made 3s A123 battery packs!

Very nice job on your instructions and documentation! I appreciate your attention to detail and very clear photographs. Thank you for your great work.

What about the potential of using the native balancer (?) that comes with the pack? Any chance of adapting it for our use? If it can be used, no sense in inventing another wheel.

That is a very good point. I saw someone else do a thread on using the stock balancer and the stock charger, but they were using 10-cell packs, and utilizing the stock end-caps on the batteries. Check out this post to see what I am talking about.

Utilizing Stock Balancer and Charger on 10-Cell A123 packs

I am not sure how the stock balancer would work with fewer than 10 cells. It would take some investication. I have 4 of them sitting on my bench right now, so I can do some experimenting and see what I can come up with. No real loss if I blow one or two up in the name of science!

iam not an electrictian, so maybe complete nonsence:

when you have this 10s-balancer..
and you connect a 9s batterie he will say: "upps: one cell seems to be dead..." or something..

but is it possible to trick him, by making two balancer-units (i asume that the balancer has 10 balancer-units inside) be connected to only one cell ?

so: this two units will see completley same voltage, no need to do anything between them..

or will this result in a short ?

yes it will..
you canīt charge the 10s1p in series and connect at same time 2 cells parallel...

complete nonsence what i wrote a posting above..

Speaking of Balancers...has the LBA6 been superceded by the LBA10, shown here ?

Yes the LBA6 was drooped / replaced with the 10.

Towers still has the Equinox which is the same as the LBA6.
