What motor do you have in your Accord 47?

This will be my first brushless setup, so I want to do it right. What motors (gb/prop/batt) are you guys using in the Accord 47? I'm looking for some good 3D performance.

I think Ed Lyerly is using the E3D setup -- Hacker C40-12T, MEC superbox 4.6:1, 14x7 APCe, and 10 cells -- 3000HV nimhs. He says it flies great -- ED?

Just as you stated Kyle ......it's a GREAT combination. The Endo brushed setup would be a good low cost alternative too. I'm replacing the landing gear ....wire is just too soft. Light on the wing (55 oz) with lots of excess power, makes my heavier (74 oz) Diablotin Mini seem like a truck ....which it's not
Ed
PS...it's not as 3D capable as the E3D (if 3D is what you're after)
but it can do lots more than I can

What about a Mega motor? I don't think I can afford a Hacker. What Mega/GB/Prop would you recommend? Also, what would be a good ESC for the Mega? I'm really dumb when it comes to brushless motors, so I have to rely on you guys.

Thanks,

steve

Andre ...so little faith
Not only do I love gearboxes (and what the right combo does for performance), I'm looking for a way to change pitch and gear ratio in the air

Hi Carlos,
I have a 1015/1.5Y @ 2:1 on 10 CP1700 and an APC 10x7e in an E'streak (had the same in my Rumfal before dumb thumbs intervened).
If I were to put one in the Accord 47 (on 10 cells) it would need to be geared 3.0:1 to turn an APC 14x7e about the same as the C40.

I was thinking of using the astro 3.3 gear on it.

What is the amp draw on the 2:1 set up?

Ed,

How is your 10 cell pack configured? I was thinking about getting a MEC power tube. Will that fit?

Steve,
It's (2) sticks of (5). Just like you could do with a MEC power tube.
Ed
PS ... see picture in the Accord 47 thread I posted earlier.
