"Profane words are not allowed on broadcast television or radio, and generally are seen as lower class to use in common discussion, but many people use them regularly in familiar discussion"

I don't think this is true anymore, is it?

It depends on the word and the time of day, last time I checked.

Pretty well spot on for here- haven't heard the one about being permitted to be late if you're the one who has called the meeting though- I'll have to try that one sometime

Great find dog. I love the ones from New Zealand. Fanny pack is a Bumbag, gives whole new meaning to the name Fanny Flagg.

I especially like this one:

When riding alone in a taxi, it is considered polite to sit in the front passenger seat next to the driver.

It's mostly right for Spain too. I'd say, though, that Real Madrid/Barcelona soccer partisanship is viewed in a worse light than political and there aren't that many left with a grudge about the civil war. But I live in a sleepy provincial town far from any contoversy.

Hmm most of the Dutch ones are rather dated. But it's an interesting read.

Some weird things in the Germany part of it, but funny read none the less.
Not closing your umbrella before stepping inside any building, even if there is more than enough room for it open. (It is considered bad luck to open an umbrella indoors)
This e.g. one is somewhat outdated.

Now I have just to read the other Countries' parts...

One might add this irish one to the germany part:
Holding a loud conversation on a mobile phone in public such as on a bus, in a restaurant or walking down the street. Similarly having a loud or unimaginative ring-tone on a mobile phone is frowned upon.
and also this belgian one:
When you give someone a gift, make sure that it does not include a price tag.

The part about France is correct. Reminds of things we do without thinking about them.

Reading the other countries articles, I notice things,
I (as a german) would also consider a faux pas,
though they aren't listed in the german article.

The ones about Canada are pretty close to the mark.

The comments about diversity are largely true. Most (especially caucasian middle-class) Canadians seem to feel the need to be offended on someone's behalf if racial/cultural comments are made - whether the culture is represented in present company or not.

Bilingualism is highest around Quebec, and diminishes pretty rapidly as you move westward, with occasional peaks in Soutwestern Ontario, Northern Ontario and Manitoba. Also, most of northern New Brunswick is either francophone or bilingual, as are some regions in Nova Scotia. Cape Breton is also (although less so as time goes on) bilingual, but it's English/Gaelic rather than English French.
