Dark winter photos from high altitude.


I was just out and took these photos. It's pretty dark today so the pictures are a bit blurry from the long exposure.

E-Starter and Nikon CP 3700.

Beautiful area !!! I wish you had a better camera so you could take high quality pictures. That would make some amazing AP. Your plane must have been looking pretty small up there.

Looks like a good day to throw another log on the fire and work on something inside. Also, you will want a good cup of something warm. Nice pictures. How did you keep your battery warm to get that high? Some guys wrap their batteries is an insulating material.

Brrr, dark & cold looking. Kind of impressionistic looking too with the slight motion blur, you must going through your "blue period".

When I get a giant scale plane I might fit a better quality camera (or two), I'm thinking about the World Models 1/4 Cub, but for now the 3700 is doing really well. It seems the best quality videos I see are always shot with Nikon 3700's.

I hope for clear skies tomorrow, but that will also mean it'll be much colder, and it's difficult enough taking off without the transmitter mitt in the way. There are trees and bushed everywhere that I have to dodge on the ground.

At the highest point I didn't have full visual contact with the plane. I rely on the stability when I climb in circles and only correct occasionally with the rudder. I stood with my hands in my pockets for several minutes. Hehe. this only works on calm days though.

The 1/4 scale Cub is a really great flying plane. I had one and it was of my all time favorite RC planes You can do the same thing with the cub, get it so high it is just a dot and basically fly it by controlling its heading and holding a little up elevator Years ago, I could fly mine to about 3000 feet by doing this.

I made another lfight today. I had zoomed in in order to take self portraits so I can't rotate and crop these.

I'm bored with this location now. Maybe I'll take a drive and find a bridge (to shoot, not jump from).

Well, its the results that count, not how the plane looks as far as I'm concerned. And you are getting great results! (Except for the trees)

I'm curious as to how you mount the camera, from the video it looks like it is mounted on the cowling in front in the windshield because you are shooting through the prop, but I don't see any mounts in the picture.

There's a removable piece of foam on the nose that I remove to mount the camera there. This is an old picture of the plane when it was less damaged.
