Dragonfly flight

Thanks John:
The conditions were partly cloudy with some high thin clouds early that attenuated the sun to some extent, hence a few sinky patches . But we did get some patches of open blue sky later that helped a lot. Now I have a crick in the neck from looking up!

Looking good in those pics Jack. Definitely looks good in that yellow/transparent red color combo. I did my my RES ship (3M Scooter) in the same color scheme.

Thanks for the tip John. Will definitely have to get one before attempting the Level V 2 hr TD flight.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I was actually hoping the wind didn't quit. I was unballasted but able to move out nicely with 3/32" of reflex... and I slope soared the trees just downwind of the landing zone on 2 different occasions to finish my time... read - knees knocking together...

I have to say that as much as I've bitched about this glider... I rather like it... A little makeover coming over the winter. I'll post the results.

See ya...

Well, everytime I get a wild hair to sell this model, it surprises me. I flew in Albuquerque today and it performed very well, out thermalling some of the moldies. Dave Clarke got me, though. My time was spot on, but my landings in 0 wind were a little lacking... Practice, practice, practice!

Was it realy the plane out thermalling the others? Maybe you did
Congrats, Jurgen.

PS: it still prooves MH32 is not out dated.

Maybe not... I've drawn up 2 sets of wings in the last 2 days... and they have RIBS!

OBTW... One of those wings was for the Dragonfly... After they're built, it'll be the Dragonfly Strong...er... and Lighter... with MY airfoil...

That DF is going to develope a BAD case of hangar rash with you wanting to sell it then changing your mind, and building new wings.....and......

By the way, I assume you have not picked up a winch or parts as yet. Those suckers are expensive! A new one is listed on Ebay and the present price is $549 I believe, with $60 shipping! Next time you are up I'll loan you a 5hp gas winch you can use. Shucks, that thing will just about launch a J3 Cub.

I have to agree with the "Schred" man

We flew from a sod farm this weekend and I had someone crawl all over this plane and help me work some kinks out. We pulled some nose weight out, re-programmed my radio, played with some linkages and walla!!!it's like getting a new plane.

The morning was dead air until about 10am and then things started poppin. After the overhaul I was setting my timer to 8 minutes and I had to work hard to get the thing down to make time. Of course it was just practice but I hit my time within 8 seconds the last three flights and hit an 80 landing or better each practice flight (I think 10 in all) and all I can say was it was a perfect day.

I think I am going to hang on to this as well, I was keeping up with a Sharon, Pike Perfect and a Supra all day. I am not saying this is in the same league, but it has started to perform great, of course that is thanks to Tauno and his spending some time to help me sort it out a bit.

I really like this plane.

It's been almost a year since the last post. Any updates on the DFS? How have they held up over time?
