Well, I agree there can be too much warping, and the fuselage needs more side area for KE (then you can lose the SFG's). But the wing area is pretty large, 447 sq. inch IIRC?

That's too bad about your warping! Are you having another one sent or are you just scraping it altogether. I know that e-flight will fix any problem you have.

I must have been lucky because mine is straight as an arrow. Wish the weather would calm down so I could fly anything.

Mine flies OK, but now, with the plane trimmed in for level flight, the ailerons are about 1/8 high on the right and low on the left... just to fly level. I guess for $100 ya gotta expect some warps!

I can live with that, but I do wish they'd make the rudder larger.

447 sq. inches is fairly decent but not for a 50 sized plane. my fliton extra freestyle is 57" and has about 700 squares, not counting the big fuse either.

im just scrapping this one altogether and going with the aj extra. i dont mean to thread bash in any way, just reporting what i found with the eflite. oddly enough, this was not the first time this has happened to me with their kits. back to the drawing board fellas~

Bigger will definitely fly nicer - you are going to have some very nice aircraft! Too bad the jump to 4s~6s gets so expensive .

It's not a 50 sized plane... I think you are confused...

Scott

P.S. Mine was as straight as an arrow too! I have no complaints, and the extra wing area helps with our altitude (6000 ft).

Hi all. I test flew my MFX today! WOW, what a blast! Flew straight as an arrow off the deck. Plenty of power with the E-Flight 480, and 3S TP2100. Can't wait to fly again tomorrow! I can see this is going to be one of those "favourite" models in my hanger. I am not a 3D flyer (yet), but I think this model will help in the learning process.

My only mod was to install a battery tray over the spar, to get the 95mm C of G.

Thanks to all those who shared their experiences on this thread. It does help.

Cheers,

Greg

Well i finally gave in and sold my funtanax to a friend at work this morning. Pretty much pnp----hes a futaba flyer so he'll need his reciever--- but he'd seen me fly it at lunch at the local park, and I let him fly it and he wanted it badly as a little upgrade from his typhoon. So couple hundred bucks put away for my future project---the EF egde!

hinging

there seems to be confusion in the manual...discrepancy on the amount of hinges you should use for the ailerons and elevator...

i used 4 on each alieron and 2 on each side of the elevator...

any thoughts on using hinge tape? one of the hinges snapped on insertion...

I have never used any hing tape on any of my models except my powered wings. I used double strapping tape on the elevons. My flying buddy uses a tape called blenderm. This seems to work really well. He only uses it on his foamies, but we have talked about using it on the larger stuff. It sticks really well.
