All,

Has anyone converted the eflite ascent to brushless? if so, what is your setup?

Oyeah. I bought one from a friend that had a mega 16-15-4 inrunner ran direct drive with 8x8.45 prop. With a csrc3s2100 batt pulled about 23 amps at around 12000 rpm. The ascent went straight up vert to 972 feet in less than 15 seconds. Thats almost 4000 fpm. I also ran it with a Park 400 920KV outrunner at 6 amps wot with a climb rate of about 700 fpm roc. That was with a csrc 1250-3s 10C, never got rpms with this though.
I bought a Winged Shadow Systems Altimeter and it is a blast to finally know how high you are. I think it was 48$ and I just love it.

Hi Hector,
I used a 400xt outrunner for my ascent and it's a perfect fit. Just bolts right in. I also used two GWS Pico servos and a thunderpower 730mah 3 cell lipo. Balanced perfectly. I am using this same motor on my gentle lady and it works great! I hope this helps. Roel

I'm using a 400T brushless motor from justgofly.com, 8X4 prop, TP 1300 battery and CC25 speed control. Goes up almost vertical!
I have to be careful to trottle back at the top of the climb or it will torque roll at the top. The motor is very light and efficient and bolts right it. Little more power than the Esskay 400xt.

There are two long Ascent threads (one followed by the other) with lots of setup info including mine. This is the first page of the second thread.

My perfect setup is a AXI 2212-34 with a Gruapner 11x8, TP1320 and a CC10. This gives a AUW of around 15.5 to 16oz and has a nice 70deg climb. Staying up and hour is easy The Ascent needs to be at this lower weight to fly correctly. .
