C'mon I thought you guys were addicted. The wind wasn't bad at all and what's a little rain. The wind did pick up @10 though. It couldn't be too bad because Roger successfully maidened his e-starter.

Kevin, Tim and myself braved the rain today to fly at Sagamore. I was able to maden the E-Starter and got in two flights between the rain. The performance of the E-Starter was much less than expected. I am using the stock 400 motor with the 5.33-1 GWS gearbox and a 10-6 prop. I am using the same 1200 ma 7.2 volt battery pack from the Easy Star. Kevin gave me some suggestions to go brushless.

Roger,

You should be able to use a 3 cell lipo with the 400. That will give you better performance.

An 8 cell 700-800mah Nimh pack will boost its performance. The guy I work with used this pack in his Estarter for his grandson to learn on. He said flight times were about 7 minutes. http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...6&pid=NGWSV433

If you want to go brushless, I have a few of these motor ESC combos available.

I used a 3s lipo on my sp400 E-Starter as well. It was the stock motor/GB. Great performance. You could also go with a geared 350 setup and save alot of weight, keep the same pack. That would help alot.
