Spread Spectrum radio flying jets at Superman Jet Rally

I figured I would be the first one, what the heck.

Just heard that Horizon is flying high performance (Bandit and BVM F-16) on a new Spektrum spread spectrum radio there at the event.

I don't know any more details, they are not hiding it but not announcing it either. We got people trying to look inside the plane right now, for sure the transmitter is not the same as the current spektrum

Please ask them to get a good look at the transmitter and pass the
description on to us.

So would this be a beefier tx/rx setup that would eliminate the "parkflyer" only label of the DX6. I am definitely interested in this as that is my only hold up with the DX6 - and I would really like a 2.4ghz based tx

Hi Ken,

I heard it was 7 channel( ugh) in some new sort of transmitter but still lower end JR derivative, but hard to tell.

I posted most everything I heard over at:

They are *not* flying the DX6 in the Jets. It is a new Spektrum full range system.

FHSS won Europe hitherto
Receiver- and antennadiversity helps and is a sine qua non - as I believe - operating bigger, faster and longranging modells compared to parkflyers.

Has anyone confirmed that the Full range system uses 4 channels?

It has only 2 antennas and uses 2 frequencies.

Rx-Diversity does not need more frequencies to compensate a temporarely or locally bad connection by multipath or present RF-shadows by the flying equipment.

Looks like the antenna swings left/right, so it will now fit more easily into a TX case. Do you think this is a 100% digital (i.e. - no PPM from the TX to the RF deck, just straight digital) TX?

I still don't like the idea of this setup, especially if it means that I need to set my 9303 to the side!!! I don't know why they don't use a module!!! The only way I would even consider dumping what is probably going to be $400+/- into another transmitter with what I consider to be limited programmability is if nothing else becomes available that I can plug and play with my 9303, like the Extremelink system which was supposed to be available within the next month (who knows now). I will give them 6 months...

Yes, the antenna rotates, the receiver has end pins, the transmitter has a timer and yes, there's no PPM decoding.
