Make Your Yellow Bee Rc Flyer Bullet Proof - Mod 1

THE cheap RC Yellow Bee is a BLAST but don't be surprised when you are in the air one minute and the next in pieces on the ground. Cheap means Cheap!

Here is what you do:
Buy 3M "SCOTCH Strapping" For Heavy Jobs. 2 in x 360 in (10yards)
(I bought mine at Target for $2.00)

This tape is fiber reinforced and is STRONG so you will need a razor blade to cut it. DO NOT worry about the extra weight... your yellow bee won't even know its there!

BEFORE ASSEMBLY and before you get ants in your pants and want to fly... Tape the wing on TOP and BOTTOM both directions (fiber tape one way, then the other) from the center of the wing to where the foam starts to bend.Do the SAME for the other side. This is the leading edge of the wing... so do a
good job and make sure there is no (or minimal) bubbles/wrinkles.

NEXT, Again tape the wing on TOP and BOTTOM both directions (fiber tape one way, then the other) from about 1/4" PAST THE PROPELLER tip to the center of the wing. Do the SAME for the other side. It is stronger if you choose to use one solid piece of tape all the way accross...just tape over the plastic top wing support and screw hole. You can posh a tooth pick through the hole later!

NOW, Put a single layer of tape (two strips just about fit) accross the length of the tail piece, before you bend it into a V. NOTE: LATER after a few crashes, add more tape as needed to prevent bending!

LAST, Cut out the tape that is in the way of the motors. I pushed the tape together, notched out the center, then melted the holes with a hot metal rod where the plastic posts poke up through the wing (4 small notches on each side).

This method works SO WELL that you will NOT BREAK A WING! You will however break the plastic fuselage/body since it is now the weak spot.

I am playing with clear epoxy to reinforce the weak spots (both sides of the cockpit AND the wing mounts inside that the screws go into)

Now if we could just figure out how to stop breaking those cheap props!

That will have to be my next MOD...posted here after I figure it out!

Use a prop saver YB. Breakage goes way down.

I'm curious, I've never been able to find the Yellow Bee. This is the Harbor Freight one, right? Anyone have a link to it?
