Pico J3-F Cub

This poor little Cub has been sitting in the box for more than a year, so I finally felt sorry for it and put it together. Too many yellow ones out there, so I painted it. Typical GWS equipment.

Gary,

Nice paintwork. Yellow cubs are becoming boring
I'll make up mine too.

Where did you get the stickers? Mask and paint maybe?

RookieOne,

Made from stick-on Monokote trim sheets.

oh no!

ummm i thought it was illegal to paint those cubs anything other than cub yellow.....you're in trubble!

anyway..what are you flying it with?...battery/motor combo?
also, what size wheels are you using?

I have one(just finished, not painted yet). I fly it with the stock dx-a motor(w/1047 prop), and an e-flite 6 cell 400mAh ni-cad. Its all stock except for the tail wheel, I made a really tiny one, I had to...because my 5 minute epoxy started setting before i had the two halves together...I noticed...tried to quickly bring the halves together, was all relieved that i got them together in time, then I noticed the little tail skid still sitting on the table...

Its really tame on that combo, I fly it in a soccer field and can circle for about 8mins or so between the goal posts(at full throttle cuz with that 6 cell 400mah nicad its not gonna glide, and half throttle seems useless). I have to hand launch because it will not ROG in the grass, (never really tried to ROG with this plane anyway). I know it won't ROG from grass because the stock GWS wheels won't even let me land on the grass(all my landings are tip overs). Hand launches are easy, I have an MPI speed controller that only does soft starts, so I give it full throttle, wait for the esc to come up to full speed, then just give it the gentlest toss and its gone.

I have to learn to catch it and then I think I'll have even more fun.

Nice! Camo is a nice change from the routine yellow.

Gear

Guyaneze,

Stock DX-A with 10/4.7 or 9/7, six and seven cell 270 NiCad or seven cell 280 NiMH pack, GWS ESC and servos, and 1.5 inch wheels. I also added a steerable tailwheel, as I'm fortunate to have paved runways.

Martin,

Thanks; glad you like it.
