The UK mag RC Model World has a review of this model in the Dec 2008 mag. The reviewer used counter rotating 3 bladed props. Loved them too.

Is there an online version of that review?
If you have the magazine, could you please tell me the size and pitch of the props used?
Thanks,
E

I use apc SF 8x6 prop's on my Beaufighter, and that's with the mpjwet 60D motors.

Hi! I have just got round to putting mine together. I went for the speed 300 motors with gearboxes and 8x4 three blade props. The problem is that on a 2 cell lipo there is no grunt. I cannot see it flying. Looks like its 2 blade props for me. Has anyone flown theirs on three bladers using brushed motors?

For an experiment I did try a 3 cell lipo for a short burst and it really developed some thrust, trouble is that the motors may not be able to take it for sustained runs.

Any ideas?

Hi Tony, you would need a 3s lipo for it to fly, but i understand your concern about the motors on 3s. For my brushed powered models that use 3s, I use the graupner 'mega mig' motors. They are rated for use with 3s lipo's. I don't see any speed 300 mega mig motors listed, but they do have 280's and 400's.

Take a look:

Per the review above you don't need 3s. This flew great on 2s and brushed 300's.

Now it flies with 3s and brushless motors, better no question.

Thanks Stuart for the heads up on the mega mig motors. Might try these: Mega Mig 280 3Lixx 2mm shaft do you think they will cut the mustard?

Thanks for the info Mike. Before I fit the mega mig motors I'm going to try a pair of 8x6 props on my Graupner speed 300 motors. I do love the look and sound of the three bladers though. Did you find any nasty torque roll with your model?

No it was well behaved, but does need to carry a bit of speed.

Hi Guys,
I know have a new Bristol Beaufighter kit so I will be putting this Airplane together soon, as I read all I can get my hands on
I also have the retracts, I am thinking about installing them, to work manually , I only fly off of grass! They would look nice for display!
I have two new MP jet, 28/7-35 D brushless motors that I am going to use!
Also what type of Glue is OK to use Ca?
Thank you,
Joe
