Ion-X going strong again - Video

Had a rash of bad luck... first I had problems with stripped gears and damaged secondary stage while trying the Neumotor. Then I screwed up and crashed (tipover) it due to low Rx pack voltage at IRCHA. Now it's all fixed up and dialed in again . This is still my favorite machine in the fleet. Here are a couple of videos from today's flights using the Hacker motor with ProLites and new 690V-blades. Not as powerful, by today's standards, but still loads of fun . Hope you enjoy:

Chachin..

PS: Been thinking about trying the Actro motor on 10S... Can the Hacker ESC handle it without burning up??

Hello KB, as long as you use the kevlar wrapped version the motor can handle the Ion fairly well for its size .

Tony, thanks for the info. I remember you guys mentioning cut frames, I believe it was to fit a larger main gear. Is that necessary for a 10S Actro setup?

hey , I think you need to trim off alittle , cant remember , havent change a frame yet , well soon I will , got one at the house all banged up .
I dont have any 2 stage setups , and still have all them 2 stages too , also have a lenher motor I was ganna slap in there , now I bet that gives a NEU a run for its money , Chris made a motor plate for it , but no 2 stage , one good thing with this motor , it has 2 KVs , one for 10s and 1 for HV

Carlos i have done alot of flying wiht the Actro and the Hacker on 10s it wokrs really good
Also you only have to cut the frames if you run the fan for the single stage
You might want to wait and see what i got going before you change to single stage

On a good note the power train is holding together @ the first of the year we were only getting 2 to 4 minute flights on 12s

hey , with that setup Bobby , adding pitch will get you the pop , since your running 85 to 90% gov , means you are at around 1900 headspeed ,
I been running 12 degrees for a while now , wanna try 13 with 1900 on the head, the pop comes from 2100 on the head , that means short flight time , that extra drag takes abit of time off the as$ end of the flight ,
off the proto 10s TP 4400s I ran 10 degrees of pitch, wide open , 4 min 15 seconds and the packs was dumped , 10s 3700 , 3m and 40 seconds , DUMPED, almost like autoing when they dump. at 85 to 90 % gov , same setup , 4400s 12 degrees of pitch . you can stretch it to 5 min, but still have the punch with 12 degrees of pitch

Bobby, looking forward to knowing more about the setups you guys are trying. Does it involve the Neumotor??

I'll talk to you later about it.
