Top Flite GIANT P-51D ARF

Hi,

I built it, installed an AXI 5330/18 and 10S LiPo and it flies REALLY well. Any changes from the kit? No, except from the motor mount, batteries instead of a tank and of course the Robart retracts.

Motor: AXI 5330/18
ESC: Kontronik Beat 50-10-30 (shall be switched with an Jeti ACRO 90)
Prop: APC 18x10 cut to approx 16.5" to obtain less than 50A, APC 20x12 will be installed with the bigger ESC
Battery: ETEC 3700mAh 10S 20C cells, shall be replaced with ETEC 5000mAh.
Flight time approx 6-7 min (however, it can carry at least 2lbs more with batteries so 15 min or more is no problem with a bigger pack.

Tx: Graupner/JR MC-22
Servos: Graupner/JR Digital
Futaba noise filter on the longest servo cables and ESC

Flying

Hi,

It flies like an aileron trainer. The landings with full flap (no trim changes) are a breeze. No floating, just keep the throttle low and adjust as needed. I have the CG as pr manual which is where the gasser guys balance it with an empty tank.

The verticals are good and will be endless with the bigger ESC and propeller. Rolls, loops and split-s's look impressive. Very good response around all axes. No bad stall habits. It is a fighter though, use your head and plan your moves.

Conclusion: GO FOR IT!
