Alert

Seagull EP Extra 300 just arrived

We just received a large supply of Seagull EP Extra 300 ARFs. They look nice and seem to be pretty light. We'll be shipping them first thing tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
Todd

I have one on order at my lhs so I should be expecting a call from him soon. All the equipment is on the bench ready for an airframe.

I see a lot of upcoming build threads with the release of the Fliton Mini Inspire, Seagull Extra, and the soon to be released GP Reactor and much awaited EF Yak. Could be an interesting and busy fall.

Let us know ASAP how the EP Extra 300 flies. I am also VERY interested in this plane.

So, can we get a difinitve answer on the weight? Todd is still listing it at 20-21oz while HH has it at 28-32oz.

We should have the weight soon. I also picked one up at my LHS last evening. I did a complete airframe inspection before I left the store and to say am very impressed with the quality is an understatement. The lazer cutting looks to be very good and the covering seems to be a bit lighter than the usual heavy Ultracoat (I could be wrong so don't quote me). I took a few teaser pictures as I won't be getting to the build until this weekend but it looks like a rather straight forward build/assembly.

Here's a picture showing the difference in the top and bottom covering for orientation. I like the choice of colors on this plane as I have been looking for something that doesn't have translucent or clear covering. I like the yellow as it seems to be the best for visibility in both sun and cloudy conditions for me personally.

I am impressed with the design and parts fit of this plane. The canopy hatch has a simple attachment method that consists of a small tongue of balsa that slides into a slot in a bulkhead at the front of the hatch, and then the rear of of the hatch snaps down using a wire catch. See the pics for more detail.

I test fit the motor mount to the front of the fuse, and as expected it fit snug and perfect. This arf has two motor mounts included in the box, one for the Eflite 450 outrunner and one for the Eflite 480 outrunner. I am going to be using the recommended Eflite 480 and the corresponding included motor mount is drilled to accept the radial mount that comes with the motor. I do not see any issues installing the motor but those who are going to be using other brand motors may have to drill/modify the mount to suit.

Looks good so far but the real test will be once it gets on the scale and then in the air.
