Pulse jets have been around a long time, think V-1 rocket. Very cool stuff and that should be insane on a Stryker! |

I bought a new fuse for an 800-900 watt stryker. I am going on the cheap, I'm afraid, and here is what I've narrowed down. The battery will be 6S A123, so equivalent to about 4.5-5 S Lipo. I want to do about 60 amps.
Motor considerations: 260 gram 2000kv inrunner, good to 55 amps, no mention of volts 154 gram weird outrunner with a shell, 2000kv, good for the watts I need 2200 kv inrunner X 2 at 400 watts each The last motor I am already doing 400 watts with and it works nicely. I have it with 4S A123. If I go to 6S A123 I am thinking of running two of them off that. I can prop down and instead of 400 watts at 40 amps I can do 400 watts at more like 28 amps. My concerns with two smaller motors is a) How much slower would two smaller motors at 400 watts be vs a larger 800 watt motor (efficiency loss), and 2) If this motor claims it's good to a typical 3S lipo setup, will it do some terrible things with my volts higher? As long as I watch its heat with watts (I know it says 220 W, but it truly can do much higher), is it ok to spin the ever living heck out of it? |

If you do a youtube search there is some who made home made pulse jets from cans and metal tubes and even a twin pulse jet plane...they look like they get red hot so with a foam stryker you would need some fire proof cloth /paint to block the heat or it would melt...I would never try anything like that as it only has 2 speeds (stop/GO GO GO) But I love the sound of it too!

You dont have a choice...pushers can only spin counter clockwise and standard can only spin clockwise...I use pusher props on my regualr flyer and when I ordered another prop they sent me a standard prop...I figured id just reverse the motor and use it...as most know there is no difference between pusher and standard except rotation of motor but when I used the standard prop the plane pulled the oposite direction (which was expected) but it also made my plane climb like crazy (not expected) every time I hit the gas it wanted to shoot straight up...the pusher prop never did that...I ordered some more pusher props to see if it goes back to normal level flying...If it does then there is a difference between them...if not then I told this story for nothing

And there is a difference between regular props and pusher props. Just compare them side by side and you'll see. At least I notice a difference with APC props. |

Use the pusher prop and make your motor turn the correct direction.. A motor will turn fine either way. swap any two wires to make it right.
