in-flight RPM for micro racers without a data logger...

This will really just sound like an ad, but during a troll through HobbyLobby, there are these just released new line of JETI controllers, called "SPIN"...

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/jetispin.htm

...you can hook the ESC up to their controller box jigger, and it'll tell you the max RPM for the flight. Seems like a way to get that RPM reading eithout carting dead weight of the data logger. I don't know about the performance itself, but seize and weight of the 22A seems to be that around the Phoenix25. Also seems to have a bunch of setting options.

Anyways, may be worth considering ...I know there's a few people out there that want in flight RPM's without the room for a data logger

@theKM,

It's not only the Rpm's that is interresting but also max. and min. currents/volts/temps and those are also readable.

I am not sure but I also think you can read the faults when the esc switches off so that you can if it was a overcurrent/temp at a what volts.

That way at least you can learn something about that, because maybe youre can see if youre motor is getting faulty/demagged

Also in a similar style check out MGM Compro "Black Box" http://www.mgm-compro.com

These apparently work great.

wow, they do look fantastic. I've never even seen these puppies before. They do have a healthy price tag though.

Like all good toys they are expensive I have been using some of there smaller ESC's for a while, and I have a larger one (90A) to try out on an 8S setup, but I decided the black box was a little expensive even for my extensive collection .
