Question

Multiplex radios' max safe charge current?

Can you guys please advise what is considered a safe charge current for Multiplex radios when charging with the battery pack in the radio? (Also from practical experience, please)

I have a 2500mAh NiMH pack and I am currently using 0.8A but would like to go higher if I could...

Thanks,
Nik

It all depends on the size of the fuse in the charging circuit in the transmitter.
If you charge at a higher amperage than the fuse is rated at, then it will blow.

The Multiplex 3030 had a 1 amp fuse fitted,
The Multiplex 4000 has a 2 amp fuse fitted.

An easy modification is to fit a Multiplex 6 pole socket directly to the Battery, this way you can charge at 8 amps if you wish, with a home made lead.
You have to remove the rear cover of the TX to charge.
Very handy for quick charging at competitions, I have used this system off and on for about 12 years.

Multiplex radios are unique in that they usually use 6 cell packs in their TX's

If it's an evo the max current for charging with the battery in the TX is 1.5A.
Section 8.4 of the manual covers the do's and don'ts in detail.

Thank you both for the info, I get the idea. To be more specific - I have the Cockpit MM.
