I'm useing a TP 2100mah 3cell 15c lipo, 2x25a speed controls(GWS). I always use throttle management...even in the wind...especially in the wind . Although I love to see my warbirds rip across the sky WOT, I usually fly almost WOT into the wind and then less than half with a tail wind. Also, I tend to enjoy just watching my birds gracefully make turns and such. Not really doing much in the way of acrobatics just the occasional loop or roll and I'm satisfied. That is not to say that I cant do acro, I can, I just like to relax and fly more often than not...Know what I mean. Oh and yeah...I guess I kinda push it as well .

I'd love to see pictures of this... I live in Oklahoma, where 100+ degree Farenheit temperatures are not uncommon in the summer months (June, July, August). Last year, I think we only had three days UNDER 100 degrees Farenheit (high temp) all summer!
Anyway, my point is, I've never seen any GWS plastic distort in our temperatures here... I've taken GWS airplanes I've built to AMA-field "Fly In" events, and left them in the sun all day long -- with no poor effects. I guess I'm just surprised that Darwin and Colorado are so different than Oklahoma... |

My AT-6 cowling distorted last weekend where I had painted it black. Temp was around 95° that morning, but the direct sunlight probably assisted in the distortion. We typically have 100°+ days all summer long (in fact, we've already had 3 weeks of 100°+ so far, expecting 107° today ), so I try and make it a point to keep my planes in the shade as much as possible, no matter what material they're made from.
I've not had any canopies melt yet though. Pat |
