Interestingly, there were a few crop circles... Deer or whatever had trampled down 10-20' diameter 'beds' in several places. Coulda been 'micro-bursts' where the wind tries to become a mini tornado.

Or alien balls of cosmic energy ... Weeeeooooo!!! or drunken college students ...Glad you got your plane back ... we've had a couple close ones here too ... The DDD sure is strange , like yield signs mating ...but pretty cool though !!! and obviously LOTS of area...Reading the title , I thought you guys were making a "double delta"...

Glen, you need to try one! You won't believe the flight envelope, or the funn per watt Use a 3s on a 15t cdr w/ a 7x4, and go nuts!

As far as I'm concerned, I now have THE Hydro... The Robbe Gemini... One piece molded EPP, and 100W into an 8x6 prop is plenty'o'poop. The $65 it cost to get it here from Germany was a little stiff, but what the heck, I think it's worth it. Kinda balances out all these $2 airframes, huh?

But seriously, when I saw this sucker (Duplex Delta) I thought of you!

Yup, you may want to simplify the nose a little. I went for the 'Full Monty' and formed the conical nose, but Jer cheated to a triangulated box... Both are fine!

I have a question! I am in the early stages of building this model (as Gene Bond informed me via email this was his current favorite plane, I had to try it). The question I currently have is in the pictures, it looks like a one piece rudder... on the template, it has them coming together at the rear of the fuse, the the fuse is a little too wide for them to completely join together. It's kinda hard to explain so hopefully you understand what I'm saying! Any help would be appreciated!

Yes the verticle fin is formed on both sides of the fuselage and drawn together at the tail end. There is no rudder. Yes it seems too wide at first but you will be able to do it. I did. Try it and see!

Willin, thanks a lot! One more question before I start cutting out my bluecor (I've been using the white foamboard for the only other plane I've built... the flat fat floppy foamie Zero by Gene Bond, which flies great I must add. Does it matter which way you cut out the bluecor? For example, if I was making a stab or fuse, etc. would it be better to cut it across the 4' section, or the 2' section? It almost seems like it's stronger across the 2' section... Thanks in advance!! Note: as you can see, my last post was my first ever!! This is awesome. I can't wait to give back one of these days to another newbie like me!

Any extruded foam is stongest in the direction it is extruded. In the case of fanfold, that's the 2' way (hey, the foam you have is 4' wide and 50' long ), and its also the way the waves go, which adds to the strength. So, whenever I can (23" or so max, or 46" if I use the fold for a dihedral break), I cut the wings on the short dimension.

Glen: Go for the box fuse to minimize the drag, and maximise the strength... No skewers required!

thetriguy, No problem. We are all glad to help.

As foam goes it does not have a grain as such as wood does so it doeasn't really matter which way you cut it. On the other hand it sometimes does have a slight bit of waviness that seems to bother a few people who would rather everything be super straight. Don't worry about this as it really has little bearing on the finished product.
