Im back

Back from 3 days and 2 nights on the REAL Queen Mary. It was good to be back, but now it is time to get back to work on the moose. Hard to transition from ocean liners to battleship but I'll try.

I am hoping to get a massive amount of work done this weekend. Especially starting the superstructure. Fiberglassing the superstructure should be this weekend too.

Oh you can trust me alright. I took alot, but purely for personal gratification. It's no use trying to use the real Queen Mary as a reference for a model because they have changed sooooo much of the Mary's superstructure since her arrival in Long Beach. From a modeler's perspective, you're better off using deck plans and a lot of books.

BTW- KMOT, those are great pics! I didn't get a chance to go on a (moving) boat. You just caught a glimpse of a Fascination-class (maybe Paradise) cruise ship behind the Mary. That is the same as my Ecstasy! When I drove up to the Mary and saw the Paradise, it looked like my living room!

Hope to get more done on Musashi tonight.

I think that is a Mexican Riviera cruise ship? Interesting that the "no smoking" icon was painted over. Maybe it is now a "smoking" ship?

Isnt Paradise the one that had the bad fire in the laundry room a few years back? If so it was defidently a smoking ship then.

Nice pictures, the biggest ship I've ever seen was a 200 foot long fairy on Lake Erie.

I've been thinking about making a battleship out of an aluminum canoe for a long time now, I might try it on my Yamato. That would make her about 15-20 feet long, depending on which length matches the width correctly for a Yamato hull. I'd have to weld on a new bow and stern, then it would look almost exactly like her hull.

Ed-

Ed, you've actually got a good idea! The only problem is that you are lookin at a real engine for powerplant. Perhaps Evenrude?

Also, be mindful of the differences in shape of the hull. You may have alot of Bondo work ahead. Not just from the sides, but from above. If there was a battleship that looked like it was using a canoe hull it was the Bismark/Tirpitz.

However, the deck could make the whole thing look like the Yamato easily I think. There was an overhanging deck around the stern, so...

Anyway, it's a seriously good idea and I hope you look into it further.
