Cool

Extreme AP'ing. Climbing a mountain and flying from the peak.

I climbed a 1500 m mountain with some friends and flew my E-Starter from the peak. There was nowhere to land but I was happy as long as the camera survived. After all, it was inside a lot of protective foam.

I wish the weather was clearer. The haze and clouds make for a low contrast video. Had the wind direction been from the other direction I could have just plopped it down on the peak but it wasn't easy to get it down this time.

equipment: E-Starter and Nikon CP 3700.

It flew...nearly!

Hei Lynxman!

Nice one! Once you'd done a circuit and shown us what your landing area was like, I started to wonder how the H*** you were going to get it back on the ground!
Pity about the weather, on the other hand I suppose it could have been a lot worse at that altitude

I was thinking the same thing. How is he going to land?

Very nice video.

Man the view from up there is outstanding! When you first let go of your plane, it felt like I was falling! Yikes!

That was so cool, I thought I'd throw in a few stills. BTW! Why didn't your buddy catch it? Any one who can climb a mountain should be able to catch a little plane!

Lynxman, that was fantastic! Hope the plane wasn't too badly damaged.

that's an AWESOME video. Really nice work. How's the poor plane? The mountain view & the weather in the video remind me of where I was born. Thanks

Lynxman,

I really enjoyed that. Extreme it is. I like the part fom 4:10 seconds to 4:15 seconds where you and your buddies are pretty well framed in the distance. That really showed the scope of what you were doing. The glaciers were nice too. That was very unique. Not too many people could do that whole project. I suspect the landing was an easy part of the adventure.

What can I say lynxman except WOW!!! Just to have the nerve to climb to the top of that peak, quite an effort. I doubt if any of us will be matching your feat anytime soon.
The rush from doing something like that would be well worth the effort. Imagine, you're probally the only person in the world who has flown an rc ap aircraft from that peak. Was any of you friends flying too or just you?

One more question, what size was the sd card you were using for your video?

I think my friend was afraid to break the plane. It was coming in a little fast.

I don't think anyone else has done it up there. I'm using a 1 GB memory card so I get a little under 15 minutes of video.

It took three hours from the base to the top and two and a half back down. The first 1/3 is hard work but not to challenging. The middle bit is mostly walking. The last 1/3 is very hard work and the most difficult part, especially on the way down.
