Twinax v2

After my original creation, about 18 months ago, it's time for version 2.
The changes from the original (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=351795) are:
1. Wider wing tip and more wing area, better low speed behavior
2. Wider gap between the booms. Larger prop
3. No landing gear, lower airframe weight
4. More power (always good)
5. Added airscoop and evacuation path through fuselage.

Maidened this morning in almost zero wind. Slight trimming was needed and then I tried some tight loops, rolls, dives, gliding. Everything done very nice.
The 150W/lb gave enough power for some unlimited vertical.

Due to air scoop, all components were cool to the touch after a 5 minute flight mostly at WOT. Only motor was warm (around 40 degree C, 110F)

Specs:
Weight 420g (14.8oz)
Span 39"
Wing loading 10oz/Ft^2
Motor: Himax 2812-0850
Prop: APC 9x7.5 SF
ESC: Jeti Advance Plus 18
Battery: CommonSenseRC 3S 1650mah 10C
Servos: 3x GWS Pico+F/BB
Current at WOT: 15A
Thrust : Weight: >1

Here are the new plans for this one.
CG should be on the carbon spar initially.

Yipppeeeee! shes a floater! awesome slow flight characteristic can be use as a trainer. The electros were perfect (12min. floating around flight). I remove the motor and use the battery as ballast and I was sloping like a champ! I was surprise no one really try to build this one, I've always wanted a small glider/sloper and I found my love. I will be painting her and post some pics.

happy soaring/sloping!

Glad she flys well.

I might have to cut some foam Friday.

If you get some video that would be great also.
If your like me you have no one to run the video camera.

Happy flights.
Check with you later for more pics.

Hey Mike build one you won't be disappointed! I finally got me a decent sloper/glider v.s buying THE FLING from TH. It's a simple build and shes got alot of room for flight improvements. I put the battery hatch on the bottom to keep the canopy slick for sloping. I also added CF brace on the wing to the boom so I can do dives and simple aerobatics .(not needed for glider config). no wing flex set-up: I use 6mm cf spar, I cut the wing all the way thru and glue the spar without cutting it.

here are the pics for now and I will post flight vids when I get a chance.
happy flying.

Looks great.

The coloring should help you keep track of her in the air.

Great job!

Mike

The in air pics with the red nose and tails make it very easy to make out orientation.

thanks MIKE great minds think alike. yeah the paintjob is more for orientation, she can get small really fast even with the 2s set-up. I will be adding more details on the tail side today, will post pics and maybe flight vid asap. I'm glad you like it.

Seems to be an awesome plane :P. I've decided some month ago to build this airplane - it's my first... I had minor problems with cutting the depron gluing them together nicely, familiarizing myself with the materials... Basic stuff I'm not experienced with but if I don't make these parts well, the plane might be a nightmare... The rods are done and the motor will be mounted soon.
I included some pix.. give me your opinion
