First flight!
So the plane has flown. The flight test pogramm can now start. The first flight was inconclusive but it worked what more can one hope for

The Evolution of a design
This thread introduced the first in a long line of self-designed and built 1.5m Span planes.
The thread stopped shortly before the 2013 designed wing collapse catastrophic in flight. This because the wing was not well fitted to the plane and thus rested the non strengthened longerons. This was rectified and I built GERTY that is still flying today. GERTY was used in extensive Adupilot and Pixhawk trails. In a way the advent of DJI QUadrocopters for me has led to a shift away from fixed wing Aerial Photography and more towards automation. Then last year my standard wing design failed due to the balsa Leading edge. Therefore in my current 5 iteration I am going full carbon for the leading edge and upper longeron. Since 2006 I have started getting the wingsribbs and fuselage Bulkheads machined externally. All in all in my view an exciting evolution and a very rewarding design.
